    To screw you!

You don't need a meter that goes up to 150ft for a 14 ft putt.

You will need it for a 130 ft. putt on St. Andrews.

I wish the virtual caddy would always just default to the lowest distance every time no matter how long the putt is. Make the player select a longer distance if needed. That would eliminate the silliness of the caddy selecting things like the 150 meter for that 14 ft. putt.

I think the caddy just defaults to that when it is a fringe putt?

also if you have Putter Pal or a homemade version of it, then that 150 ft meter is 15 feet at the first tic. The shorted the meter has to travel the easier it is to ding.....

Danny- maybe the 150 is only for a fringe putt but it quite often will default to a 30 or 60 on less than a 15 foot putt. For the recreational player who doesn't take it as seriously as some of the serious gamers here it is very frustrating to hit an 8 foot putt off the far side of the green because the caddy set them up for it. There is absolutely no reason that the 60 should even come up for a shot that short.

Certain areas of this game can gain by adding a level of consistency. I'm fine with the caddy suggesting a wrong club. It happens a lot. No caddy is going to suggest that you hit an 8 foot putt with 60 feet of power.

Sure, a shorter swing is available to us with a Putter Pal or the like but I would suggest that the vast majority of players registered here are occasional players and not using such aids. A default to the shortest setting on putts makes it a little easier on them and I don't see much, if any, of a downside to it.

I hit 8 foot putts with my 50ft meter all the time. I prefer the 50 over anything else.

You're right. That's what the 50 foot scale is for. The 150 is for 20+.  :-)

Beached - Yet if the caddy isn't giving you the 50 ft. meter every time you have to change it anyway. Again, it's consistency and less hassle for most players.

I guess another option would be to allow the player to set a default meter distance for the putter. I would set 15, you would set 50, others would select whatever they want.

Using higher scales for shorter putts has helped my putting alot.  I use the 150 for putts under 20 feet all the time.  I'll use the 50 for under 10.  Shorter backswing, easier to hit ding.

Of course you do!  Take the 150ft meter, to the first time you see the avatar bring back his putter, now drop it back down, that's 14ft on legend tourney greens.   Also gives you the ability to ding easier IMO.

    Just saying,

I understand that it's just a virtual game of golf, but BUT,  use a pre-shot routine and you will avoid these "the caddy gave me the wrong club" scenarios.

My preshot routine,  ALWAYS check what the caddy gives me,  take a swig of my beer, pick spin, and shoot.  :)
