Hello my young padawans. And welcome to a week 5 edition of YodaCast, with your host, Jedi Master Yoda. Week 5's tournament comes to us from the dusty, hot, and windy deserts of Qatar. Right smack dab in the middle of the,.....errrr......Middle East. Action began yesterday with just a couple players posting scores, but today is when most got into the action. Let's take a quick look back at some of the highlights and comments from the players.
The first round has seen five 28's being posted and four 29's being posted, SO FAR. Many of the Tour's best players have yet to play the first round and I would bet that a couple 27's just may get posted. The leader at this moment is poolmaniac6 who is sitting at 13 under for both rounds combined. He shot a 28 in the first round and a 30 in the second round. Doesn't seem as if the high desert winds bothered him much as in the first round he birdied every hole, but the 5th!!! Impressive!! Perhaps a force user he may be?
In second place is jlucky3333 who is just one shot behind first place with a 12 under par for both rounds. He shot a 31 in the second round and a 28 in the first round. Now jlucky's first round scorecard is a carbon copy of poolmaniac's first round. So it would seem as if the 5th hole of the first round could prove to be the toughest hole. Either that or these two fine players just ran into a bit of bad luck.
Now we have a three way tie for third place. Dazza501, AllyKennedey, & Laute are all tied for bronze. All three scored 10 under par for the first two rounds. Laute had a very similar scorecard compared to pool and jlucky, for the first round. How it differed is Laute had one of the 6 eagles scored so far in week 5. Both Dazza and Ally played with each other in the second round and both commented on the high winds and how it was a "bit of a struggle".
Other players that have posted scores are finding the conditions a little bit tougher than just a simple struggle. Shufleen has posted scores in both rounds, over par, Cagster posted five over par in the second round, but rebounded nicely in the first round by shooting 3 under par. And one player posted an 8 over par for one of the rounds, but I'm not going to point names or name fingers.
And finally a little bit of tension on the Tour boiled over today. Was it the soaring temperatures? Was it bad luck? Or was it just simply sloppy play? This reporter will not say which, but will say it was one of them. Or maybe a little bit of all of them. Anyways, WGT Super Stars Lisa03 and Tour bad boy Kurtsbuford has been banned from Kiawah Island yesterday after their round. Lisa03 shot a 32 in the round while Kurt shot a dismal 35. (Kurt has yet to submit said score ;) ) The reason for their banishment? Abusive language and unacceptable behavior! Apparently during their round after just bogeying the 8th hole Kurt was seen throwing his putter into the adjacent fairway, striking an older gentleman in the head. The older gentleman was none other than golf legend Arnold Palmer. Lisa also bogeyed the 8th hole and was just as frustrated. She was heard hollering "get the ***k out of the way Arnie!!" She was then seen and photographed lifting her top and showing her.......ehhh......"attributes" in Arnold Palmer's direction. She then began to holler obscene remarks at him and was heard asking this..."what's a matter Arnie? Don't you like me? you want some of this"? Both Lisa and Kurt began making obscene gestures at other passer by's. For some reason they were allowed to finish their last hole and then were both escorted off the premises by security. The authorities were called and both were seen being cuffed and put into a police car. Arnold Palmer was not available for comment on this matter as he was rushed to a nearby hospital with an alleged concussion. The two have not been charged with anything at this time, but Kiawah officials expect that to change. We the management, here on the WGF Tour expect more out of our players. Any player seen being abusive or behaving inappropriately towards another player or real life golf legend will be excused from the Tour and banned from all future Tours. You better clean it up Mr. Kurt! The same goes for you Ms. Lisa!
Well that's it for me on one wild and crazy day here on the WGF Tour. There is still plenty of action to come here in week 5. This week's cut-line is anyone's guess at this point. With all those twenty something scores being posted in the first round, the cut-line could go lower than expected. Tomorrow look for my week 3 wrap-up and more on the incident involving a flying putter and Mr. Palmer's head. These and possible more stores tomorrow night. Until next time my friends. Goodnight........Planet Earth!!
