Just wondering WGT why there wasn't a new 54 degree wedge introduced at the higher levels (86+) to match the other wedges that were introduced. The lack of a complete set was a deal breaker and I didn't purchase the new wedges because of that.

Because it would have pretty much the same distance as a pitching wedge and nobody would buy it.

Excepts that most pitching wedges including the R11 is useful at less than full power. Trying to get 105 to 100 yards out of a PW is problematic at best and the results are too inconsistent.

The punch shot is great for bridging that gap, but mostly just with your very short irons...i.e. PW.

Ummm...... there is a 56 degree ATV wedge (L86) rated at 100 yards in the pro shop.

You said 54, which would go about 115, and for most people would be a fourth wedge.

Arguably the best player on WGT still uses that wedge.

I use 3 satin wedges. A 54 degree for shots from 110 down to 80 yards, a 60 degree for 79 - 50 yards and the 64 degree for anything below.  In a pinch with no backspin the 54 will give me 115 yards in the low wind conditions. The satin wedges scale nicely down to the lower power settings and provide consistent shots. I can use the 64 degree wedge down to 22 yards as a full shot using 50% power consistently and reliably.

The 56 degree club you mention would leave too big a gap between it and the R11 PW. It would force me to use the R11 at less than full power and in my experience it is not that reliable when you do that. As a result, I rarely use my R11 PW for anything more than a full 120 yard shot.

The lack of a new 54 degree ATV has made having a set of 3 wedges with the same speed meter a non-starter and I am unwilling to mix swing meter speeds.

Given that it is a virtual club and not a physical object, how hard is it for WGT to 'create' a 54 degree ATV? I mean basically, the ATV is the Satin in all respects except the swing meter. Change a line in the programming and put it on the market.

Well, as they say: if it ain't broke don't fix it. On the other hand, the ATV has a lot more spin; on the third hand (lol) it will take time to get used to

Hear ya,don't use spin on atv's anyway( why ,once I'd rented Cleves had to not buy because..WOW ,too much spin..without me putting any on)Just thought the 64* would show same marked difference compered too upgrading last two 'satins' ?? Suppose I'll have to buy, otherwise will forever be wondering..hope it doesn't go same way as R11 driver...(back in equipe).Andy..
