MartyBerro may have created a good idea.  Here's his original... http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/122852.aspx?PageIndex=1

I thought I'd create my own based on a shot that made me think a little when played...

#1 Congressional....106yd out to back left pin.  Plenty of green to work with in front.  12mph wind behind and very slightly right to left.  Elevation fairly negligible...I didn't take note....maybe +/- 3ft.  I have a 95yd rated wedge and a 115PW G20 (L58+).  115PW punches at 98.  I play the WGT Tour-S ball.

We can likely all get this on the green, or even within 7-8 yds, but what do you choose as your shot to get this inside 3yds?

I may post my shot's results after a discussion starts.  But, for now, I think it would sway opinions one way or the other.

    Hi

User frienly is not aword I would use for this supposedy "best realistic" golf package. I was lucky to staert playing Golf at St. Andrews. Last Year a round cost £ 180 i yu could get one. When I stated in 1972, as a residen of t.Andrws  which was then owned y the St. Andrews residens ( citizens) I had to pay £ 2.2 per annum and 10 pence a round fo an of the 4 courss which then existed. The hardest one of them was the New Course, which required a carryof over 200 yards toget to the fairway across heather and Gorse.

The Old Course as in comparison was an easy course as long asyu did not slice your shots.

No back to yourGames package. The shotindicator fr m,ost Clubs orks fine, however when i coes to the putting indcator it not nly ies wron green configuration but also eithe ovr or under estimates the strke strenght.

Your eedbk would be much apprciated

ok, here's the shot i'd play with ur 115yd PW ..

lets assume the 12mph comes from behind @ 75 degrees making the drift right to left @ 15 degrees ..

    so .. from 106yd:

     - add 1 yd for elevation (3ft elevation)

     - adjust for drift ..12mph (as assumed above) translates to 2mph cross right to left & 10mph tail .. so slight adjustment to right of pin for marginal drift ..

     - then take off 5 or 6yd for 10mph tail wind ..

     - with full b/spin add 4yds

    Total: 106yd + 1yd - 5yd + 4yd = 106yd (original distance as it turns out in this example .. usually not the case) .. full b/spin applied .. ding that shot @ 92% power & u'll be inside 2yds from pin ..

CG100, Callaway (s),  full swing, 1/2 top spin. No numbers, no math, I just know what my 100 does with wind help.  :-)

I'd do the same, except no top spin; I use distance balls, not spin... that's probably the difference.
