I love to do that also but due to the nature of some peeps in the community it's best that I use the silence golden rule for some.

They know who they are :(

I don't really know why I waste my time helping WGT since they generally seem to be computer illiterate... but here ya go:

Disabling google update in your services and in chrome:plugins will not suffice.

There is only one way to disable google chrome from updating itself. You have to edit your registry. I'm not going to tell you how because ICON or someone will come along and steal my knowledge and pass it off as their own (as they've done to many before me).

Wow, how petty, Did you STEAL that knowledge? And claim it as your own? get a grip on your ego dude. a simple search engine search will give anyone the information that they need to disable and/or change the auto-update check period or even disable the auto-updater. with a simple registry edit.

    Here is one

my circle of friends use version 11.3.300.268

Amazing. You posted knowledge in an OPEN forum. Now your complaining people have taken your knowledge and passed it on as theres? Isnt that what Forums are for? Q&A and people helping others.

Icon would take you to school in a match, so keep your diareah mouth closed before you start saying anyone is stealing anyones elses "knowledge".

Can't speak for Linux or the Mac, but on windows you don't have to edit the registry to disable Google updates.  You just have to know how to use your administrative tools.

Hate to tell you, DylynJ, but your personal, specialized knowledge is all over the web.

If you don't want to mess with your registry, and you probably don't if you're unfamiliar with it, just go to your services through Computer/Manage/Services and disable the Google Update services.  In my case, there are three of them (I have three Google products).

You can also prevent them from starting by using MSCONFIG (or any similar 3rd party program which performs the same function).  These will change the registry values for you.  If you mess up the registry you can put a world of hurt on your system.  If you decide to do it that way, be sure and back up the registry first, or set a restore point.

These comments are for Windows.  Mac and Linux users no doubt need different information.
