Slopes in the rough and bunker are finally as challenging as they are in real life.  Where you land your ball really matters now.

I love this feature and I know it still needs to be tuned but I'm having a ton of fun playing. But please note we know making the game a challenge is not for everyone and we want to make sure that we give you choices. But for the best of the best or just those who like a challenge, this feature is for you.

Ok. I haven't tried it yet, but have a question on the general announcement.

Quote: Downhill Lies - your shots will go lower and shorter.

Lower. I'd say is accurate, as I'd be playing the ball back in my stance. However, in the real world, whenever I deloft a club, the ball goes farther. Was this a misprint?

Wish I'd taken a screenshot! There was basically a flashing red light for the lie. Did my best shot - ended up 3 yards back in the bunker. Think I scored 7 on that par 3...

A full power 60 yard wedge from the fairway on a uphill lie with low wind at back went 23 yards, been playing RL golf for 40 years and have never seen anything like that.

Seems like a WGT money maker, the shots I hit had no comparison to the way they fly in RL.

$6.00 for a sleeve of slow meter balls?

I am not even close to be one of the best but I LOVE the challenge!!.

Let me put it this way: I rather spend my time & credits on uneven fairways & championship greens trying to get a TOUGH 70 (2 under par) than what I am doing at the moment...getting all my ranked matches under 30/60 to reach the 100 ranked matches for the TL....boring!

It is obvious this new features are NOT for everyone but for the ones love & who are passionate about this game.

    ....just saying.

Great idea, but the algorithms are badly flawed at the moment & bear little relationship to real golf.

Set up a short flop shot on an uneven lie:

Aimed a little left for the Flop as usual & minimal wind effect, but less to allow for break of the green on landing.  In real life & even for the game you would expect the shot to end up on the green at least, even if wide of the mark to the left.  But not this...

Even my Mum could hit a better shot than this...

One of the basics here I think is that on a side hill lie, yes it will fly the ball to the left... but ONLY ON THE WAY UP.  When it's coming down again, it falls straight down with gravity. The net effect is not as far left as happens in this example, which appears to be based on an angle determined by the lie only.

Another basic is that in the real world, golfers make a 'physical adjustment' to stance & swing so the club face hits the ball with the bottom edge nearly level again at impact.  It's the angle in the club face at impact which makes the ball fly left or right, NOT the angle of the lie itself.

That's not all. I looked at it from as many angles as possible. There's no way the ball should be that far above your feet. At least they give a graphic in the lower right. Looks like I'll be using a protractor in future.

I guess I like the concept better than the implementation. It'd be pretty much impossible to make this game have all the real possibilities. For example: If the ball is on a flat area above one's feet, simply choking down will keep the ball from squirting left. It would be tough for them to make available, and probably tedious to set up.

I've still yet to try it. Think I'll do some more reading first.

    Oldbayrunner:
Other features in that game is the ablility to open and close the club face and positioning the ball in your stance for more shot making capabilities. Which would aid this new feature greatly as well as general shots by being able to truely fade or draw the ball as well as change the ball flight.

Completely agree and must be implemented in order for this to not only render the shot properly, but to keep a more feel of realism as well.
