Don't like them? Don't buy them! Why ridicule a new product offering?

Some people with poor reflexes or disabilities have a need for them to play this game. If the price is too high and sales lag WGT will either lower the price or stop offering them. It's the way a marketplace works.

The absolute WORST part of WGT is the "miracle balls". It started with the Callaway ball, and then the Nike ball rolled out. now the ultimate slap in the face to WGT players who consider the realism of the game to be its biggest attraction...the X ball.

The Callaway, Nike, and X ball make the game too easy. As if somebody who was a mediocre golfer could become a very good golfer overnight, simply by playing a premium golf ball. It just doesnt wash.

But, WGT is in the profit business and they have found the way to maximize profits with these miracle balls. The overall realism and authenticity of the product suffers as a result of these balls being made available, but I get it, money talks.

Anybody who thinks the X ball wont be hugely popular, or that players wont buy it because it is too expensive, is fooling themselves. This game is all about being better than the other guy. Budgets be damned. Americans still spend way more than they should. We are a nation obsessed with "winning" and consuming. The X ball plays right into that idea.

Lower the price? You think WGT will lower the price of anything on here? It's not the way the marketplace works on here mate ! He's not ridiculing the product..... just the ridiculous price that some 'barking mad' WGT executive dreamed up, so that people with poor reflexes or disabilities could take out a bank loan, in order to use them !

    1. I never said he was ridiculing the product. I said product offering, which is the whole package. That's product itself and the price.

    2. You totally missed the other side of what I said about a marketplace. I said they will either lower the price or stop offering them

It still comes back to the consumer's choice. If you don't like them, don't buy them. Each person can make their own decision.

all that said,,,,,,its still a rediculous price,  unrealistic.  not only the price, but then , (if i read it right)  in the description, you pay a price, on reduced distance and spin.

a helluva price to pay for a slow swing meter. in my opinion.

and sremllin,  they will never lower the price,  so as you say. if you have a disability, your gonna get stung.  is that fair.

i will tell you how i see this game ,

from the offset you wanna get better. you spend what you have to to reach that status, ok its not a fortune, ive probably spent on this site in 2 years, what it would cost me for a decent night out. a small price to pay yea ,,for a bit of in-house entertainment.

as you reach the upper tiers, then you see the realisation.  who are impressing, a load of users who you dont know from adam.  im at tourmaster, i got no interest in reaching legend.  if it happens along the way so be it.  we all know your average never goes up. so a good round will take you nearer the mark,  but who cares.   i play for fun now.  maybe 1 round everyday and sometimes every 3/4 days.  a set of srixons will last me 3 weeks .  coz its all about fun. i use crap balls a lot of the time. its more of a challenge. if i knew then what i know now. i wudda stopped at tour pro. and had mor fun.

but as we all know this game can get you obsessed, hence the spending.  and wgt know that.  i dont know how many legends i have spoken to,  qoute( why bother playing anymore)  that is before the new tier was introduced.

i get your point sremlin, on the marketing side.  thats all it is. lets find a way to make more bucks.

but,,,,,,,,,,i still stand..... 600 bucks, no way

    ON  LIGHTER NOTE.

a dirty old tramp goes into a posh jewellers shop ,in bond street london.

on entering the shop, the tramp starts casualy fingering his ass, (or butt ,as you yanks call it)   the manager shouts,,,,hey ,you dirty disgusting man, and grabs the tramp by the scruff of the neck and proceeds to drag him outside and chucks him onto the pavement.

the bemused tramp, points to a sign ,in the jewellers window, it reads

PLEASE COME INSIDE, AND PICK YOUR RING IN COMFORT

how things can be misconcieved eh

Why SHOULD it be fair based on income level or ability?  Everyone's perception of "getting stung" is going to be different. It might be well worth the money to some people and they won't view it as unfair at all.

It's there, offered for that price, just like an expensive, poor performing car. If no one buys it and they refuse to drop the price it will go away.  It's still the consumer's choice.

I don't run the business here so it would be best to ask them. I imagine, though, that people with disabilities weren't the only ones inquiring about or requesting them. I'm not so sure the disabled population is quite enough to justify the offering without others being involved.

When they came out with the maximum distance Nike balls there was an uproar about the price of them. Not only are they still out there for the same price, a lot of people buy them and use them. They perceive that the balls are worth it. I suspect the same will happen with these or maybe a spin-off of these with the other capabilities increased. For an even higher price.
