Welcome to the game! Sorry I disagree that all 1 foot putts should be automatic tap ins, occasionally there you can get a wicked 1 footer and in stroke play, there is no such thing as a tap in and is good practice holing out . In match play and alternative modes you can concede a putt.
As for the slower meter I think the starters putter has the lowest swing speed of any putter in the game. And as for real putting i assume you are a scratch golfer, putting (and the short game) both on the real course and this game is where a player can make a good score. I play off 4 and actually think playing this game is easier to putt.
Just keep playing and after a while you will get used to it and improve.
