This sounds like a VERY good idea.  I would think that the software could tell if you took the proper way out if this were the case.  HOWEVER, if pushing the X in the upper right corner didn't pop up your new dialog then it hasn't fixed anything as quitters could just use that method.  It would have to catch the X as well as the forfeit methods.  That way real disconnects could be filtered.   Anyway, any strides in this area should help.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, when you 'X" out is when the dialog box should appear , and then if you click again it should be all on you. I still believe the only way for this to work is to seperate  inadvertant disconnects from deliberate ones, and could be accomplished with a minimal amount of programming effort on WGT's part . In addition, 5 mins to reconnect, hogwash, 2 mins tops since a simple disconnect outside of your control no longer affects your percentage.  More thoughts?

Yep, no matter if you disconnect on fault or not, your percentage goes down. I don't know where the OP is getting its working right. It has not since the update. You can stay while other quit and get docked. Its not right. Its not crying either. Its just plainly messed up. I won't support this either. Getting blamed for disconnections that are not your fault is dumb.

With all due respect I put this in bold print so thay you won't miss any of this !!!!

You put everything in bold print & you need to stop it.  PLEASE!!

Sweet Lord man, you act as if they're going to come take your family away if you have to wait 5 whole minutes or your precious % goes down.  It is just a game; treat it as such. Play your game, send bug reports as asked if the system won't let you back in to finish, & get on w/ your life.  I'm CERTAIN!!!  that I'm not the only one sick & tired of your bold-faced, all caps attack on our senses. Calm down or seek help or something. Just tone your posts down & they might get read & respected.

It somewhat kills me to believe that because people see a text in all bold or all 'caps' that a person is on the attack !!!  I for one don't buy into the notion because someone is using all upper case letters>>>That they are cursing!!!  That's a myth started no doubt by some computer guru...that you/I are never to use all 'caps' unless we are screaming at someone.  But for me I am not into that.  I don't use all Caps to cuss or curse a person out !!! I simply spell it out >>if I am gonna cuss or curse someone out, I am not gonna hide it behind the type of format or type of print that I may be using !!! I just do it...and it wouldn't matter if it was in all lower case letters !!!  Example: (and please this is not directed to you)  shut your "mot**r  *uc*ing b***h a** up" !!!  I didn't use any caps...but I am so sure if I was saying that to someone...they would get the picture!! So once again the size of or the type of print one uses means no harm!!! I don't use bold or caps as an offensive showing of animosity !!! I use it to 'Highlight' some pertinent facts !!! So if anyone took it as a personal attack on ones intelligence or senses...for that I do apoligize !!!  Maybe to penalize some one a half a level in points...is a bit much!! So maybe some fine tuning would need to be in order!!! So, okay penalize a quitter 1/4th of a level points that way upon the 4th disconnection...they drop a level !!! by penalizing using 1/4th of one's particular level they are on, would be equal all the way around !!! Because a lower level player would be penalized deeply by just losing points as someone suggested.  Because  I am on level 90 and I could quit hundreds of thousands of time and it not affect me...but a player on lower levels it would affect more drastically !!! But no matter what level a person is on.  If they took away1/4th of their points for that level that they are on...it would be much fairer!!!  this would put everyone up under the same type of penalty without mistreating anyone regardless of the Tier or Level they are on.  Because after four disconnections within that level...we'll be dropped back down 1 level.  And also the formula I mentioned about equipment would still be the same.  Meaning if you drop below a level of a piece of equipment that you bought...it goes into storage (you still own it)...but you just can't use it until you get back up to the level that it is actually available for purchase !!! Once that is done it will be release from storage and you can resume using it !!! Anyway I meant no harm !!  Just seeking a better way to deal with 'habitual quitters' ...that would also be fair to all!! thank you and good day to all!!

Detecting an X click or something like Alt-F4 (close window) or even a process kill with a task manager is relatively trivial.  Depending on the OS, such things generate specific signals or events.

There is no reason for the percentage function to work as badly and indiscriminately as it does.

It is possible that the OP has not seen the bad stuff.  Following the game mentioned above, wherein all parties were penalized, we immediately played another game.  The new player also disconnected, but NO ONE was penalized for that one.

Correcting this problem is trivial compared to the software associated with the physics engine.  The marketing and customer service people need to go talk to the software boss and get someone moving on this.

Highlighting things with bold or all caps is one thing, but you've been posting most every word this way. It not only is annoying to read, & makes people not want to pay attention to the post, but it is against the forum rules in case you didn't know. At least one player has been suspended from the forum due to it, & he used all caps, but no bold. Just a friendly suggestion. Keep the passion; highlight things in bold or all caps, but if you continue down this road, not only will your posts be mostly ignored, you may find yourself in trouble.  Have a Blessed Day.

thank you and i will keep that in mind !!! that word 'highlight' (once again) was not to offend anyone.  i was using it in that context only to use all of the different ways that one could print.  1 upper case letter (the h and in bold)...3 lower case letters (igh and in regular print)...2 lower case letters (the l and the i but in bold)...2 lower case letters (the g and the h but in italics and bold)...and then finally the t (in lower case but in bold).  however i did leave 2 other styles out of the equation all together.  and that was the underline and the strikethrough !! but if you notice other than that word (highlight) i took your advice!! so i guess i will stay in the lower case from now on !!! but i do have one question. why do they have these different options of print ???

Italics and bold are for emphasis.  Underline was for italics when italic wasn't available, for citations, and things of that nature.  Strikethrough is for visible editing if more than one person is involved in generating a document.  You get the picture, right?

Overdoing anything is puerile and noobish.
