I have a suggestion for country club tournaments.
In our cc occasionally we have "special" tournaments where the participating players pledge X amount of credits toward a prize pool which are to be distributed to the top performers upon completion of the tourney. The distribution of these winnings can be a bit of a nightmare for the person who set up the tourney.
If there was a "Prize Pool" button available which appeared after players sign up but before tee off in the event it could greatly simplify things.
I think it could go something like this: Upon sign up for the "special tourney" the player signing up would click on the "Prize Pool" button & be greeted with a " would you like to contribute to the prize pool" {yes or no}. If the player elects to contribute {yes} then a blank box would appear so that the player could pledge X amount of credits to the tourney. These credits would then immediately be deducted from the players account & added to the "Prize Pool". There could be a drop down box showing who contributed & how much with a total "prize pool" amount @ the bottom similar to a leader board. If a player elects not to contribute {no} then they would be sent to the 1st tee to start play. The same would occur for the contributors.
Upon completion of the tourney {by time limit as we do it now} the tournament administrator {the player who set up the tourney} would be able to access the "prize pool" & distribute the prizes to the deserving players by depositing credits directly to the winning players accounts. Only the tourney administrator would have this power. There could even be a "future prize pool bank" option in the event that the deserving player would like to donate their winnings to a future tourney.
I believe this could greatly simplify the process of awarding winnings to players & eliminate the need to gift inferior balls to winners, or having winners do a matchplay challenge with the tourney administrator & forfeit the game to the deserving player as this option always results in a reduction in the winnings by the amount of 20% {wgt's rake}.
What do you think of this idea Wgter's? Good, Bad or indifferent? All opinions will be welcomed along with options to modify this idea for the betterment of the game.
