Travelers Pro-Am
Round 3 Cut
Welcome
golf fans to your regular WGF update. Over at the Travelers Pro-Am,
it’s been a week of highs and lows but so far it appears there’s no
stopping WGF Tour Commissioner, Funkyjunkie3000. He leads the main tournament by two strokes from his perennial foes AllyKennedy, Kriztjan and matchplay semi-finalist, TDHarvey.
Whilst the many reports of FJ3000’s weakness in matchplay against other
WGF Tour Commissioners have again been proven correct, no-one can deny
that he’s a formidable player in strokeplay format. It will take some
great scoring over the final week to dismount him from the upper
echelons of the tour standings (although some mild doctoring of his
qualification points can be achieved no doubt ;) ).
This
week has also seen the first ever “Pro-Am” event take place during the
WGF Tour. An invitation only event has given twenty players the
opportunity to play with the Pro of their choice. In an incredibly tight
competition, the Swedish duo of Hobbe95 & Kriztjan and US/Aus combo Bfghd & Wontonamo lead
the way but with eight pairs within only three shots of the leaders,
this tournament will inevitably go right to the wire. In R3, all Pro-Am
combinations will be split up to ensure a consistent end to this
tournament. In
the event of a tied finish, the score of the Am players will be
compared and the lowest scoring Am across the three rounds will be named
the winner.
If they still can’t be split, then a sudden death playoff will happen
between the Ams in question to decide the overall winners of the Pro-Am
competition.
In other news this week, TonyTurbo78 managed to clean himself up when he heard news that his half-brother, Kurtsbuford
had gone missing at Congressional the week before. Local newscasters
said he was beside himself with worry and went on a personal mission to
find “the drunken one”. Armed with his 3wd in hand, Tony managed to
battle off the dray of squirrels on the 8th hole who’d captured Kurt the
week before. Mysteriously, the vicious tree-rats smelt of booze and
it’s now been identified that they’d taken Kurt to be their new deity.
Once Tony gave Kurt a pair of pants, they managed to haul their
carcasses around Congo again although Kurt was seen to try to gravitate
his ball back into the trees on 8th but Tony went in and recovered the
situation on his behalf. All that exertion made Tony lose the plot on
the 9th coming home meekly with a par. He stormed past reporters
claiming “his blood was still boiling” after having to fight off the
Congo squirrels twice in one morning.
Pairings
follow in the link below. Please remember nearly everyone is involved
this week due to the Pro-Am tournament. Please look to get your rounds
organised ASAP.

Please
use the link below to find your designated partner. Try to make all
attempts to play with this individual but if it's not possible use the
following method:
-
use one of the ten R3 Markers (named in original WGF thread); markers
are to remember that their first round counts as their R3 score
- if not possible, use a WGF Tour player who you have not partnered with during R1 and R2
- please always update your designated partner if you do use a marker

Week 12
Travelers Pro-Am
JUST TO MAKE IT CLEAR, ALL WGF PLAYERS CAN PARTICIPATE THIS WEEK. THERE IS SIMPLY AN ADDITIONAL INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT RUNNING FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO'VE PARTICIPATED FOR THE WHOLE SEASON AND ARE SITTING TOWARD THE TAIL-END OF THE STANDINGS.
This
week’s WGF event sees the annual Pro-Am tournament hit the tour. This
will see 20 pairs of players pitting their wits over three rounds. This
draw process is already well underway but the five players who are yet
to name their partner can enter up to Thursday’s cut (please post your
chosen partner in this thread or on my wall).
There
is only this event and next week’s tour playoff left to gain end of
season qualification points. With the boundaries being moved for each
event due to the number of players who will qualify, it makes it even
more imperative to fight for every single point available.
I’d
ask the 20 named “pros” below to try to do everything possible to play
their three rounds this week as you partner has chosen to play with you.
I will assign the highest player in the tour to the “am” if the “pro”
doesn’t complete their rounds. As stated before, there is no need for
the pairing to play together on any of the three rounds but naturally,
I’m sure your partner would appreciate the opportunity to play with the
“pro” if it is possible.
As with previous weeks, the scorecard and greenshot needs to be submitted by one player from your group.
As there is no equipment restriction this week, only one person needs
to do this but please take a backup shot just in-case. All players need
to still submit their own scores using the link provided. Course
conditions are as follows:
Round 1 Conditions
Course = Congressional (Front 9)
Hole Location = N/A
Tees = Blue (Hard)
Green speed = Standard
Winds = Moderate
Lies = Even
Round 2 Conditions
Course = St Andrews (Back 9)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To all WGF'ers; this tournament will start tomorrow and it will include the following:
1) Main tournament for all players
2) 20 pairs of players who will compete is a combined strokeplay
scored tournament (The Pro-AM) which will be played over R1 to R3 (if Ams don't qualify for the main tournament, they will still be able to post a R3 score for the Pro-Am event). The 20 "Ams" will be
the 20 players who've finished at least 5 tournaments and will be from
the bottom of the tour standings upwards. The Ams will have a choice of
who to partner before Thursday or they will be given a partner (starting
from Position 1 downwards).
You don't need to physically play with your assigned partner but you may wish to so as to maximise your chances of scoring well. I will let the Pros and Ams play together for both R1 and R2 for this tournament only.
Credits = 750 credits to the winning "Am" + 250 to the winning "Pro"
If your name is on the following list, please reply in this thread ASAP with the name of the "Pro" who you want to be paired with. This person has to be a fellow WGF Tour player. Please review the tour standings document to help choose your partner.

First come, first served is the policy so get your choice of partner down ASAP. You don't need the permission of the "pro" to pair with them. Both scores will be counted together to give a total figure for the round and neither pair has to play together during the event if they don't wish to (are aren't able to).
