Just found one missing score value:

Billcliff had an average distance of 29.6 ft in the second round, reported on page 14 by Strawbridgemicha. This brings him to a good 4th place with 68.4 (hmm, I was sitting so nicely there!). Corwyn, would you please add this value in the spreadsheet?

Unfortunately, there's no stats published for hyena in the second round (Dazza published the scorecards).

Unfortunately I was unable to make the third week round as a result of a scheduling mishap and my work travel schedule. Sorry for not being able to formally announce my withdrawal from the tournament sooner.

However, if anyone needs a playing partner for the last round, and the tournament organizers approve, I would be more than happy to serve as a marker for anyone that needs one.

Again, I apologize for the delay in my withdrawal.

    Thanks,

    Axelrod

    Axel,

there's still a chance to play, Corwyn gave 2 days courtesy time.

I'd gladly mark for you or anybody else in the next 7 hours - send a friend invite and propose a time.

    Hi Axelrod,

You don't need to withdraw if you don't want to. I've given a 48 hr grace period (see prior page): if you feel you can get your St Andrews round in by midnight Tuesday, that would work to stay in the tourney.

Thank you for your generous offer to mark for the final round as well.

    Thanks, Corwyn

    alosso:

Third round inofficial standing at the end of the official time.

As for late entries see Corwyn's previous post.

As before, I have only taken those players into account who completed all rounds. Missing side scores have been set to 0 and 111 respectively. There's no evaluation of ties - simple excel sorting and numbering from 1 to 14.

This time I did a little stats work - rather interesting I think:

    Wee Tough It Out stats:
    ----------------------------------

    1) score comparison: the average avainst Par is almost invariably +4.7 to +5.0 between the rounds.

    2) GIR was about 48% in rds 1+2, then 67% in STA

    3) Average distance had been 26.0 in rds 1+2, is 30.7 in STA

    (#2 without the NR scores)

    Hi Alosso,

I think one of your rows might have slipped up. It appears that the values are lined up with the wrong players. (Billcliff's stats are in the Leaderboard.)

I'm just thinking about exactly the best way to calculate the GIR and Distance standings. I think it will need to be a calculation based on # of greens hit, and then using that number to multiply out the distance, since otherwise we'd be trying to average out non-representative averages, if that makes sense.

I'll post an updated leaderboard later today/tonight.

Thanks for your enthusiastic and fascinating stats analysis!

    Corwyn

Sorry, this is sewed with a hot needle (so we say).

Since I'd have to repeat the work from scratch, I deleted it.

As for GIRs, this is a %% per round. I just added it, thinking that this is enough for a standing. Dividing every score by three wouldn't change anything.

The distance score is also an average, based on a certain no. of holes, depending on GIR and Par. I don't see a need to introduce any no. of holes here, this has been taken care for. IMHO we can also just add them up, only "punish" those without score (poor hyena!) and let the lowest no. win. Dividing by three won't change anything here, too.

It means that carefulness, prudence were not my primary concern.
