Anyone have any sage advice on which setup to use on which courses? For example I find I have little or no use for a rescue metal on St. Andrews. The third wedge is always better for me there. St.George I have to put the rescue back in the bag because of the chance of a hurting wind on the longish 3 par. At Olympic Club the rescue comes in handy more than the third wedge for me at least.I'm curious to hear from you all about your various strategies on  this subject. Thanks. Doc

Once I reached the Master tier I sold my Hybrid and never looked back. You can use a 3 wood out of light rough.

Looking at your clubs in your bag right now, I would say you have the perfect set-up that can easily take you to Legend tier..

    Good luck...

Punch your driver there and punch the 3w out of rough up to 40-50. Anything worse than that don't be a hero, just recover. That HB is taking up valuable wedge space.  ;-)

(Totally agree with SM although I never even owned a 3W until Legend.)

L79Burner2.0 vs L83 G20                                                           As much as i hate to spend this kind of money I would really like some feedback on these to club sets. The G20 cost about 200  more than the Burner 2.0, but the 2.0 has a better reach, and the 2.0 has a faster meter. What i would like to know is what kind of stoping power do they have when they hit the green. Is one better than the other.?? Reason I'm asking is that I need to upgrade my Iron to better deal with the Sandbaggers that refuse to grow some nuts and move up to Master Tier. Thanks.

I'm at Tour Master and less than 1 shot average off Legend and still using the lower level G20's they rock.

At legend I'll have to go with the L83 G20's plus higher level wedges.

I got up to Master tier with Raptures.

    Always used Callaway (s) balls.

Yankee Jim;could you elaborate a little more on the punch your driver tip;I guess it's gotta be of the tee right?Give me a few examples.Thank you.

Nope.....can be punched off the deck, too.  But, you'd better play the break of the fairway.

Oh, and @ OP.......3 wedges.  If golf changes the rules and allows a 15th club, 4th wedge before hybrid.

Chop's right, you can punch off the fairway. I use the driver punch off the tee automatically at SA#1 simply because it's literally impossible to get to the water plus you wind up a full wedge away which is a lot easier for most to get close. I also use it on the long par 3s at RSG when the wind is in the wrong direction. Keep in mind, this is from the Legend tees.

When I carried 4 wedges, right up to making Legend, I would use the driver punch off the fairway in places like BPB7, second shot. It's rare that you would use it, probably never if you have a 3W, but those number of rare instances, compared to how many times the 4th wedge came into play, was not worth considering. The 3i in your set is the key club if you think about the 4th wedge scenario.

I'm definitely not a golf expert, but I realized fairly quickly that an additional wedge was more valuable than a hybrid.

I realize that when I move back a tee (soon, I hope) that my wedges will be called into play less often.  That is not the same thing as saying I will suddenly need a new club between my 220 3-iron and my 240 3-wood.
