My first major tour event as a WGT player. And I can say I have enjoyed it tremendously. Despite not being able to complete a couple of weeks due to work commitments.

For a fairly new legend, getting the chance to play with some of the more experienced/better players was great. I`m sure others feel the same in that respect..

It`s not a criticism, but the only week I felt I didn`t want to compete was the starter ball restriction tourney. Just me, that`s all.

Huge respect for everyone involved (especially Jim) in helping to organise it all/ mark etc.

Hello Jim, I signed up never playing one event. The big reason for me was that I don't really like playing practice rounds even though that's the best way to have a variety of playing conditions. Players like me who have a hard time earning credits competitively try to save their ball hits for ranked rounds. I think maybe in the future, you could use the WGT-ran tournaments as the way to play. Overall, I feel that most players enjoyed it. I had a lot of friends that really enjoyed it. I was impressed with the organization of the whole event. It's very hard to maintain a long-lasting event like this one.

    Hi James

I think it was very well run and have to congratulate yourself and the other players involved on and awesome tournament.

I guess there were quite a few players that "dropped" out after the 1st few weeks, maybe thinking that they had no chance so why bother? Maybe implement a handicap system, or divide the entrants into divisions with prizes for each division? It all did seem to happen at a bit of a whirlwind pace, which maybe tough for some to keep up with. (Not me, I obviously don't have a life :-))

Maybe incorporate A/S into it somehow? I realize this could really be a logistical pain, but would be fun if it could be arranged.

Other than that, I can't think of anything as I really enjoyed the tournament. Again, thanks to everyone involved.

    Cheers

18 hole rounds are tougher to schedule due to the time commitment. Prefer 9 holes if a playing partner is needed.

Maybe only count the best 3 finishes out of every 4 so people know they don't need to play every week. Maybe was too demanding, some feeling they needed to play every week. But I always wanted to play every week and looked forward to the new week's conditions.

Liked the variety of options you set up as practice rounds so they would not affect  scoring average and stats. Even the starter clubs/balls and uneven lies.

Great opportunity to play with new players.

I missed the first 2 weeks cuts, and if I hadn't started making the cut, I may have stopped playing if I thought I didn't have much chance to make the cut. It helped me when you announced that anyone making the cut would get Tour Points. Maybe find a way for more players to play the final round and collect points.

Fantastic Tourney.  Had a great time playing with other people I hadn't met.  Great job done by all that were involved.

    What would I change?

Perhaps adding in the shot clock on some rounds.  Nothing wrong with a little "hurry up" golf now and then.

Have a firm cutoff each week.  If people can't get their rounds in on time they should not be given extra time.  If need be, extend the week to 10 days at the onset  but be firm on the cutoff.

Match Play - Perhaps allow more people to play.  If you have a number of people that make it uneven, give a buy to those with more WGF points.  Also, pehaps a double elimination.

    Well done James.

My thanks to all the feedback in this thread. There are some interesting points written some of which I incorporated over the final few weeks of the tour. Playing numbers and reasons for stopping are my main areas of interest so please continue to post comments going forward.

I will flag up that I would've changed the Tour Champ Finals if I'd had the time over. I would've limited it to only one 18 hole round and perhaps have got rid of the equipment restrictions in R1. I think a lot of people may have looked at these settings and have been put off straight away. If anyone's able to comment on this point, it'd be very much appreciated.

    James
