With respect to chipping... are you hitting close to max power. If you try to go say 50% what you are describing will most times happen. Just remember to hit 90-100%, if that doesnt get you in the neighborhood go up a club. Also the chip distance shown is not the actual distance traveled. You just have to pay attention to the carry/roll. For instance a sw will carry 5 and roll 5 typical. But that changes a little if you're not level with the hole. Hope that helps, soemone else can cover sand better than me probably.

I find it easier to chip from the fringe than putt.  For some reason, you have to use the 60 ft. putt from the fringe no matter what the distance is.  Would be nice if we could choose which putting length to use.

For the sand since noone is speaking up, guess people have gotten tip lipped around here??

Try the flop, as long as you're within 15yds. On a normal sand lie it will travel bout half the distance stated on the club. Other lies differ, you'll just have experiment. But that should get you started.

I've had the same trouble, finally getting the hang of chips and pitches but the sand is tuff, So here's my strategy. Don't go in the sand, not trying to sound like an ass, but I avoid it at all costs, a 60ft putt is better than 15yrd sand shot in this game, I might even lay up to avoid sand. Basically like real golf, (although in real golf the greenside bunker can be a welcome target) way the risks and advantages, cut your losses...par is never a bad score. Wish I could help more, good luck to you. =)

There's no reason to fear the sand in this game's current configuration. Just follows the tips when someone gives them and mess around a little to fine tune shots. It's really not that bad anymore. Now you shouldn't be looking to get in the sand, but when you do, then you can save that par or get lucky and birdie.

My most played sand trap is on the 4th hole .... just can't seem to keep out of that sucker. On the bright side, it's given me plenty of opportunities to learn a couple things.  Took me a couple 3-shots to decide that the flop or pitch just doesn't work well from greenside bunkers.  I just drop down to my 60 wedge/lob wedge ... full shot, but only hit about 1/2 power and make sure to aim left. Just like real golf,  you hit sand shots with a more open clubface, so the shot usually flies a little to your right.

Fairway bunkers are not a problem, as the lie is usually on hard sand, buried15-25% ...  just hit an extra club b/c you lose distance

Hope that's some help to you.

In the #4 bunker, full LW pitch works pretty well under 14 yards when 30-40%.

When your 40-50%, SW pitch at 75% works about the same distance.

    Play with it.
