    WGF TOUR CHAMPIONSHIPS

    CLOSE OF PLAY

Well we've reached the end of the WGF Tour 2012. As I've said in previous posts, this has been a tricky two weeks for me so my apologies for having a rather messy end to what's been a largely enjoyable and successful tour for most participants.

When I put together the playing conditions for the final week, I thought this'd be a great end to the season with a full four round event with challenging conditions for all players. In theory this should've been great but it seems like this hasn't played out as I expected it to. Playing numbers have been low and there's been some real frustration seen during the two weeks with a number of people suffering different issues.

I could've extended the finish time and date further but I felt the integrity of the tournament would've been affected and it wouldn't have been fair to those who got finished on time.

This means that we have the following final results for the Week 14 tournaments:

Maserati Tour Cup Winner = PRIESTESS (2500 credits)

BMW Tour Shield Winner = CHRISTOFFF (1750 credits)

Mazda Tour Plate Winner = TERBAL (1250 credits)

Vauxhall Tour Bowl Winner = MBAGGESE (1000 credits)

Skoda Tour Spoon Winner = SJON10 (750 credits)

Well done to the five tournament winners. There were some very tough conditions to play through and some of the scores that were put up were of an excellent standard. Priestess's -17 round at St Andrews to win the Maserati Cup by 8 shots was an incredible effort.

The final prize to give out is the big one - the WGF Tour Champion 2012!

It was a shame that the season leader AllyKennedy had two weeks away which coincided exactly with these two weeks. We'll never know how that would've affected the final results. However, the final standings for the 10 players who finished Week 14 are as follows:

So unbelievably PRIESTESS becomes the inaugural WGF Champion and manages to defend the WGA title that she won in 2011. Many many congratulations to Tess for such a sterling effort in the final half of the season and particularly in Week 14. The scores you put up (particularly in R1 & R2) were an amazing feat and only goes to demonstrate how much of a legend you are in the world of WGT!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got to go through all the final credits and assign them accordingly. I'll be PM'ing / WP'ing people soon to say what they've won and who will be paying them (and vice versa).

    James

End of Season - WGF Tour 2012

With the completion of the WGF Tour Championships, we’ve finally come to the conclusion of this inaugural tour. Our final winners were:

Overall WGF Tour Champion 2012 = Priestess

Maserati Tour Cup Champion = Priestess
BMW Tour Shield Champion = Christofff
Mazda Tour Plate Champion = Terbal
Vauxhall Tour Bowl Champion = Mbaggese
Skoda Tour Spoon Champion = Sjon10

Many congratulations to you all for you efforts throughout the season and for concluding the tour in such a positive fashion.

Now on to my Oscars moment...................

Firstly well done to all of you :)

Congratulation to all the players who’ve won credits / prizes throughout the season. It’s been a pleasure running this tour and put simply, it wouldn’t have happened without all of you guys and gals from the WGT community. I’ve tried to get games with as many of you as possible during this tour and every single match has been as enjoyable as the one before. I also reserve praise for everyone who had warnings and penalty strokes during the season; on nearly every occasion, each person understood my reasons and moved forward with a positive mindset. It’s very easy to complain when you’ve only made a harmless mistake but everyone showed exactly the right attitude when it came to this matter. Thank you to all the WGF players!

Beyond you guys, I’d like to pass on my thanks to my two fellow Tour Managers, Daskino and Funkyjunkie3000. These guys helped me out massively both before the tour started in terms of giving advice and opinions on the ideas that I came up with as well as chipping in to help out on other aspects throughout the course of the tour (Andy of course added to the workload by normally forgetting to submit his score most weeks ;) ).

The tour wouldn’t have been as enjoyable without some prizes on the line so I’d like to thank all the players who offered credits to the prize fund (this nearly totalled 100K of credits - the equivalent of $1000). Most of these prizes should’ve been allocated by now but please chase up your sponsor if you haven’t received them. People like BrioBrio (10000), JCOlson, AllyKennedy, JFHuber and Zant (5000 each) all deserve special mention but no matter how much a player contributed, I am so appreciative of your generosity.

Next a thanks to Bigsaur and WigerToods2012; they have been the two graphics guys behind the scenes. Carmine (Bigsaur) has created all of the tournament logos and WGF Tour images that have commonly been seen in each weekly event. WT2012 has sorted out all of the trophies that the winners have received during the course of the tour. This is an area which I had no clue on so many thanks to you both for your work over the past three months.

I reserve a special mention to TonyTurbo78 and Kurtsbuford. Both of you guys have made me laugh so much through the tour and you've both had to put up with my "wit" at the end of many of the weeks. It's great to come across people who happily take a few jokes at their expense and come back looking for more only a few days later. My write-ups would've been considerably less fun without the material you gave me :)

Second to last, I’d like to give a big thumbs up to all the markers who stepped into help out with not just R3 but also with R1 and R2 when players needed a partner. There are far too many names to mention in full but from my list of designated markers, Minkywinkster and Simovoice have always been available to help people out at short notice. Thanks to all the markers who’ve stepped in when needed.

The final two guys who deserve the biggest round of applause is DougieWaugh and Yoda79, the tour’s two main scorers. Put simply, were it not for these guys hard work, this tour wouldn’t have lasted more than a few weeks. What they did was a thankless task which involved trawling through the forums to ensure that the leaderboards were accurate on a daily basis. Yoda helped enormously when he came onboard in W2/W3 by automating a lot more of the leaderboard which made this job much more bearable. He went missing shortly afterwards and all the team send our best wishes to him if he’s moved from this site.

I reserve the biggest praise though for Dougie. Bar a short holiday at the beginning of the tour and a few days at the end, he’s single handedly managed the scoring. This was a huge job and the amount of hours he’s poured into the running of this tour is incredible. There is no way I would’ve kept on going without him tirelessly working in the background. Many thanks guys; you were absolute champs from beginning to end!

That leaves me to once again thank you all for taking part in the WGF Tour 2012. It’s been a really enjoyable experience running the tour and I hope that I’ll get a time window next year to run WGF 2013. No doubt uneven lies will be my new flavour of torture at that point ;)

    Take it easy

    O M G !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought you maybe surprised :)

The setup was very close the FedEx Cup in RL. Going into the final event 4-5 people had a realistic chance of winning which is about the number I wanted when I first worked out the points system. As I mentioned, Ally not playing was a real shame as it would've been great to see the top 5 battling it out for the number 1 prize.

Anyways - congrats Tess on another excellent victory!

Great job Tess, you smashed that second round en-route to winning the tour championship and the overall crown! Big thanks to James and all the others who volunteered their time to make this series a success. I had a great time playing, got to meet a lot of players that I probably would've never run into otherwise. The format was perfect IMO with the various equipment stipulations to keep it from getting redundant and play to everyones strengths...and weaknesses lol. Hope to see it come around again in the future and if you need any more volunteers don't hesitate to ask James, I'd love to help out in any way. Cheers
