This debate is exactly what i've been noticing when playing ready go's, take past monday, there was a combination of me playing poorly, missing ding on wind side etc etc, clubs that normally go a certain distance would over shoot or undershoot by 6+ yards and this kept happening in 4 or 5 ready go's, and the majority I just withdrew from and played blitz instead. I decide to enter 1 last ready go, and i was playing pathetically (had stomach bug so wasn't on top of my game) on 2 holes i missed the ding by halfway between the ding and far right line, yet still landed 2 yards from pin, other holes i would miss on wind side (usually I would land 8 yards left, but again landed within 1 yard) 2 holes i landed within 2 yards, the rest i was landing within 1 or 0 yards. Same with putting, i missed ding a few times on the break side and ball should have missed wide, but went on its own straight line directly for cup. I couldn't believe i won a ready go having played so poorly but it seemed to be on a HOT ROUND autopilot. I doubt its to do with the clubs individually, but the actual round itself might have been implemented as a "boost of confidence" or as a balancer to all the previous "bad" rounds. It probably happens to us all, some notice it more than others.
EDIT:
Since writing the above i've come to the conclusion that the whole set up is "fixed" anyway tournament wise and there's definitely score limitation on rounds, I.e: If the hot rounds have all been taken up then its a score limtation, deviation effected round for the rest. I had total proof after playing the $10 ready go at St Andrews, landing within 2 yards every hole and would have got -9 apart from a 5 foot putt on #6 which i aimed at pin, slight left to right break, yet ball went LEFT of pin, and on #8 the break had absolutely no effect, when i know from previous putts in that place ball turns in towards hole. -7 for front, Back 9 i had several approaches which wind had no effect whether it being left to right or headwind, and even if i did land within 3 yards on a hole, the resulting break would have no effect on the ball, i even posted a replay of the types of shots i was getting, i play this punch shot hundreds of times, i underhit it at 41 yards, knowing it will stretch to 43 or 44, here i get 49 yards all of a sudden!!! and i even aim way left for the resulting putt, and guess what it starts off from the pin, not where i moved marker. 3 birdies for back 9 of St Andrews, WHAT A JOKE and it was comical seeing the difference in the front and back, and this to me prove we're NOT in control of our rounds, and although it was the clubs people were discussing for individual players, ITS NOT, its the rounds themselves
On all the easy birdie holes on back 9, the wind did not effect ball, and just to make sure i'm only allowed a par, the resulting putt would take its own line and break would have no effect. This shows me that although people think wgt might "alter" individual clubs (doubt it) but Ready go's, YES, (but it could have been you who entered this ready go instead of me, so it could have been you who lost $$, i was just the unlucky 1 at the time. EXACTLY same thing happened last time i entered $10 ready go "score limitation" was in play and i got an embarrasing 63, but next day when i entered i came 2nd or 3rd with those "hot" rounds, or maybe just a NORMAL ROUND so i guarantee when i enter same tournament tomorrow i will either be in top 3 or at least double my $$ (unless a WGT staff reads this and gives me full on deviation all day)
So after all that preaching, bottom line is when we enter a tournament its not an even playing field for every one as some might get a hot round and others funny wind which doesn't effect ball, or clubs seem wrong in other words your destined to loose $$ from the start. Fair?? No WAY, but its what we have to put up with and just hope we get a NORMAL round next time. This is more like online casino than a fair even field golf game. I'll get the 2's & 3's round while you get the 2 x Aces (Poker wise.lol)
My previous ready go was at Cabo, i would have scored a 56 (if i parred 18) but instead i press early and land on the shelf and double bogey and score 58. yes i was disappointed i "could" have scored at least 56, but again HAPPY because the round was decided by MY MISTAKE, what it should be, not by WGT and the bum rounds/shots it dishes out at times.
