    alosso:
There will be a difference in -7s on STA and on OAK because one counts as 2x29=58 and the other as 2x28=56.

The degree of difficulty is what I'm referring to, not the score. You can shoot -7 at SA infinitely easier than you can at Oakmont. Using the USGA ratings this is how the 4 American courses compare with  figures for Course Rating, Slope, F9/slope, B9/slope and Bogey Rating. This is where I would think -7 at Kia would get you a better drop than the same score at BPB if these numbers are factored in.

    BPB           76.8 141 37.9 / 136 38.9 / 146 102.5 M

    Oakmont  77.5 147 39.0 / 150 38.5 / 144 104.8 M

    Kiawah     79.7 153 39.4 / 155 40.3 / 151 108.1 M

    CCC         76.8 141 37.9 / 136 38.9 / 146 102.5 M

    USGA Course Ratings.

    Ah - thinking amateur :)

Add the Old Course of St. Andrews as of 2009:

    yellow: 128 slope / 71.2 course rating

    white: 130 / 72.8

Nice thoughts if we had a HCP here. Not applicable to the scratch averages though. In this virtual world, any equal gross score will count equally.
