    chrisironsbones:

You cant rely on missing ding to sink putts and not move the aim marker.  The best results (and best players use it) Is to move the aim marker left or right to where you think the ideal line is to compensate break, and you can then miss ding by a few fractions either side to make sure (if steeper break)

I always putt by missing the ding left or right, and never move the target marker. Works great for me. I've tried moving the marker, and it just does not work as well for me. My putting is quite good.

I used to putt that way and it seems putters with better balance and precision dont work as well using that method. I am sort of in between where as I move the aim marker a little and miss ding . On very crooked putts you have to move the aim marker because missing the ding just wont get you there.

You might need to get used to moving aim marker because you cant rely on putting by missing the ding alone. This is a very hit & miss approach to putting and as your 1 putt stats show, 35% can be improved on.  Start practicing more by moving the aim marker to compensate breaks and hitting ding (or if you need to miss, only miss by a few fractions rather than trying to miss ding and not move marker.  I'm sure when you get used to it you will start sinking much more putts.  And a more precise putter would also help too.  The best thing I did was invest in a new putter, you will be amazed on how much more get sinked using a better putter.  Why not give either the Daytona Rossa, Nike Method, Ping Redwood, Spider ghost a go for starters or if you can afford it the Max putter??

Big fan of the ghost and nike putters. Don't like the max putter. Way to precise. If I missed the ding by a sliver 90% of the time I would miss the putt by that sliver.

I'm a miss the ding putter too.  I only move the aim when there's a very fast break.

It takes heaps of practice to get it right, but when you do it's quite good.

When I first starting trying this, it was a bit, hit or miss and kept on going back to the 'move the aim' method. Started to get into two minds wondering which method to use. So I decided the 'miss the ding' was the best for me and stuck to it.

What CIB said he has a 63% one putt average. He knows what he is talking about.  I read some where in the forums awhile back that you are not considered a good putter unless your one putt average is 50% or better.

Pls don't get me wrong with what I'm saying....   No doubt, Chris is one of the Elite and the things he says should not be taken Lightly :)

I would luv to have a 63% putting Average, which I'm working on...lol

I have 48,000 putts in, close to 3000 rnds...  I am also a slow learner, which is good too.  Always something to work on....lol.

I would say, in the last year... I would have a very high putting Ave. and others that have played a game with me will say the same too :)

I might only have a 43% putting Ave.... but at the moment that's not a true figure.

Lobster, add me and I can show you my method.  I used the "miss" method for the longest time and was about a 40% 1 putter.  I am now climbing back up and sit around 54% 1 putts.  But the stats are fictitious because it avg's all rounds, not the last 100.
