  I caught someone using this term and was curious if anyone had any thoughts on the connotation of this term?  I don't speak German but I had some concerns....

  I think it would depend of the context in which it was used. It can mean the leader, the guide, the conductor, the chief, or the driver.

  In a Negative context it could be a reference to Hitler or his style of rule.

  You have to be the judge of how it was used!

  anyone who speaks german knows fuhrer means leader or guide that's all....nothing sinister in it. maybe just unfortunate hitler became fuhrer (leader) of Germany. Nevertheless there's nothing wrong with the actual word "fuhrer".....just depends who's associated with it and as Danny said....how it's used.
