Ryder Cup 2009 - GOODBYE!

  We have been offered the chance to qualify. I want in.

  When would the weekly qualifying start?  Monday?

  Also, any American players that want to get in on the last minute action need to post on my wall immediately!

  Paul, you might not need to do it that way with your team, but I would like more events to qualify my players.  I've had a few people go inactive since we've started and I'd like to be able to bring in some replacements.  I'd also like to have more than just 4 events total.

  It won't mess up the time frame.  American players will just have a few more tournaments to play in.

  Hi All,

  I must say I agree with Paul on this one. We nominate a weekly comp eg wk32 - and thats it for everyone. Pressure on - one round -  wk 32 - thats it !! Originally there were 4 monthly comps to enter thats how it was spelt out to me and everyone else.

  We're already 3/4 way through qualifying for heavens sake - and you guys want additional people to have a chance to qualify ??? You are kidding - right? 

  OK - you want to win it - got that !! You have by far the stronger team on paper, but you want more - just to make sure - yeh ?  The posts for the Ryder Cup have been up for weeks and weeks - if people havent seen them by now and need a little late persuasion to try and qualify. Thats a bit rich to me.  There may be good reasons why some people havent seen the posts - but thats just the way it is.

  I just think that qualifying should be the same for both teams - end of story. Now it seems at this very late stage you want to change the rules ?? You say - it doesnt matter to you guys (the International Team) what we do - but it does. Surely we cant have different qualifying rules for both teams.

  OK - you have a heap of players who havent posted scores ?? Thats what I call lack of committment !! They shouldnt be in anyway.

  I apologies to all if I seem a bit "huffy" here - no disrespect to anyone intended. I also know how much effort you guys have put in to pull this together - so, many thanks for your great efforts and keep up the good work.

  Hey - I am only in the Pro tier, and qualifying for me is going to be difficult, but it has been a blast trying.

  Just my 2bobs worth, OK ?

  I seem to recall agreeing to allow the international squad to add players when things weren't going so well in the beginning.  It would be a shame if when the situation is reversed that bad timing would suddenly be a critical issue. :(

  In real life Ryder Cup, the US and European teams have very different qualifying systems, so I don't understand why all the fuss over this.

  Ok nivlac bear with me cause I'm sort of on the Brits side on this.

  By my count the first 7 (Americans) are already locked and the eighth all but done, no chance of anyone catching us, in a 1 tourney left scenerio anyway. And it seems all of the 8 are still active. So that leaves 1 qualifier, the other 2 you pick right.

  Now I'm not sure what has happened to Sal and Bad, but if they're not active someone like Sandy or Jalaii will pass them. So basically I'm not seeing the issue here? Maybe there's something I'm missing??

  Let me see if I can explain this properly.

  This is all started when seve told us that we could pick outside of our list.  I felt bad about that because I didn't think it was fair to pick someone outside the list who hadn't even technically played a qualifying round.

  Then comes two days ago and all the hub-bub about using the weeklies.  Seeing as how the next weekly started in 3 days, I had very little time to get the word out.  Thinking that it wouldn't matter if our qualifying was different than yours because the RL qualifiers aren't, I went ahead and assumed 3 more tourneys for my team.  I then spread the word en masse.

  If there are 3 more tournaments left to play, then our qualifying is only halfway over.  Now would be the time to get people involved who missed out for whatever reason.  Anyone who entered at this point in the qualifying would have a tremendous hill to climb with only 3 events left.  However, it would put players in my pool to select from when the time came to choose my 2 picks.  That would allow me to overcome the fairness issue I spoke of at the start.

  I'm allowed to choose from any players outside the list anyway, right?  So does it really matter if I wish to have a few more tournaments to give players a legitimate shot of getting in instead of just being hand-picked at random?

  Hi Nivlac,

  I am more than happy for you to settle on your team however you like and I did greatly appreciate the flexibility you allowed me in the first month.

  I must add that I do realise that I have also had the advantage of the international team playing together for 5 weeks now and a number of those guys will be making up the Ryder Cup team so please feel free to finalise your team as required.

  The World team will now play the Week 33 Weekly as our final qualification tourney. Not all of them read the forums regularly and I will have to go and post on most of their walls, giving them a chance to prepare for the final round .

  OK, I definitely want to give Nivlac the chance to use these three weeklies because, as he said, the same thing was done when Team World were in trouble and new players were allowed to come in, so the Americans have the week 32, 33 and 34 to qualify.

  Paul, if that's your last word, then Team World are using Week 33 as their qualifier for this month.

  Ok guys this may come off as just complaining about nothing. But I'm sick of qualifying! So adding more isn't exactly what I had in mind, but yall knock urselves out. Maybe it's just me. I would be curious how the other players feel.

  Only three weeks to go, Ncviz , you're nearly there :)  .

  The Team World leaderboard has been updated, the American one is taking a bit longer, because I'm going to create a spreadsheet for you guys, cause I can't fit all those scores on the WGT pages.
