I was stuck in the light rough about 5 yards from the pin on 16 @ Oakmont. In spite of several variations in shot strength, and several perfect hits, the ball never moved. Ate up all of my strokes.

If it's not a bug, it's not worth playing.

If you were chipping 5 yrds in the rough it will never move.

Did you send a bug report by right clicking?

The chipping is crazy, switch to pitch because the physics for the chipping are completely screwed up!  I tried to hit a short chip from just off the fringe because the green was a steep downhill and it went nowhere.  Tried again same thing.  This bug has got to get fixed!  Also, wind and slope effect your shot distance on some holes a lot more than others.

It's not worth trying to chip from the rough. The chip is a finesse shot, which is probably why the rough causes so much trouble. Having waste so many shots in the past, I never try to chip from the rough at all anymore. The other thing about the chip shot is, that you really do need to be very close to the green for it to work properly anyway. The caddy is obviously a comedian at times with the shot selection it comes up with.

I'll bet you broke the Cardinal Rule of chipping by swinging less than 50%. Guaranteed flub every time if you do this.  If you're that close and facing a disaster if you hit long (like from past the pin on OAK2) use your putter. From rough the flop is the best chance you have to keep the ball in the park but from some lies, like the one above, you're in big trouble because nothing's going to overcome momentum.

Thanks for all the feedback, it was helpful.

Now, can anyone tell me why all the putts are downhill in all directions?! lol.

It's Oakmont, even if you get an uphill putt, it's still downhill. Lol.

As for #16, I've also encountered glitchiness that made it impossible for me to advance the round by finishing the hole. I should have reported it.

The best things you can do when you encounter errors [on their part] is right click while playing and select "Submit this bug to WGT." Be sure to include as much detail as possible. You can also e-mail members@worldgolftour.com

I did not realize about the right click thing, thanks TLD.

I had a baffling situation on #13 at Oakmont. I was on the fringe, below the hole. 15', 8" downhill. There was also a break involved. Not a great spot to be. My thinking was I would putt, probably roll past, and then hopefully make the comeback putt. I could not putt. Tried 4 times giving it about 9' on my 15' meter knowing I would end up long, and nothing. Finally, I tried chipping, and you guessed it, I watched the ball take off to 30' past.

I'm guessing it is a glitch, you can always putt from fringe.
