Bunker lies....

  Why is it when I hit a drive or an iron that rolls into a bunker can I get anything worse then a 20% lie?  Just playing Oakmont qualifier, playing really well, hit a drive that rolls into a bunker and got a lie of 40-50%.  that is a complete impossibility.  Now that left me hitting 10yds out and still having 197yds to hole, for a bogey (thank god). 

  I think you guys need to tweak the game dynamics a little.

  Someone could could correct it if I'm wrong, but the best Ive seen is 30/40% @ Oakmont.

  I take as their way to make Oakmont harder, cause you're right, balls rolling into bunker, how's that buried?? The times you see the ball buried IRL is borderline rare, but it's all you see there, at least in the Open.

  The courses teeth are sharp enough to keep it hard and realistic, adding 30-40% sand is completely unrealistic (which is what this game is trying for) the 40-50% just completely chapped my ass.  Like being 207yds out in 30-40 isn't hard enough, no lets put in 40-50%, full swing on wedge barely cleared bunker, and went 10yds.  WHOOOPPPPEEEEE

  There is definitely something inconsistent about the bunker lies you get on Oakmont.

  I hammered a 200 yard iron shot straight into the bunker in front of hole #9. I was fully expecting 40-50 lie or even worse given it went straight in. Was amazed to find it only with a 30-40 lie, but it doesn't seem all that realistic to me, especially as I've seen balls roll softly into a bunker and sit 40-50 on the same course.

  I've noticed this too.....usually 40-50 everytime,,,and you can't play the sand like at other courses,,,no matter what i try i'm lucky to get out of the bunker at all...anyone have any secrets to playing out the bunkers on oak????

  Full shot with your lowest wedge, preferably the 64. Learn how to hit it with less than full swing around the greens. Fairway bunkers-get back into play-leave the heroic shot in your bag.
