And yet these might be the two most cost effective sets at that level.  We have to get used to the meter speed at some point, anyway...you know?

An interesting crossroad. Here's what you have to look forward to. The best clubs have meters that need balls to slow them down if you can't handle the speed. It's a trade off-worry about the speed and use balls to keep it under control or learn the faster speed (and spend less.) Or at least faster than what you're used to now. If you put too much emphasis on the meter speed you will make yourself crazy.

You adapt to the meter naturally. You can't go from a Tour-SD to a Max ball, or vice versa, and expect to nail the ding consistently right away. It takes a few rounds to get the feel and when you do it becomes second nature. Ultimately, the worst thing you can do is keep trying different things. Pick something and stick to it.

This rental weekend is a good way to get a taste of what's to come. Try the faster meter clubs, they come with more accuracy. Use a WGT ball to get a feel for how accurate they are. The G Series all slow the meter down and are cheap. Those balls hurt you less when you miss the ding because they deviate less. CTTH's are fast shots easy to restart and good places to learn stuff.

Oh, and get some sleep if you can, you only have a weekend to jam it all in.  ;-)

    An interesting crossroad

One which, after days of earning credits, researching equipment, and reading the forums, I think I have solved.

I'm going to buy the R11 Driver, R11 3 Wood, R11 Irons, 3 Callaway wedges (60, 75, 90 yard) and start tinkering with the Callaway balls for the slower meter.

The fact of the matter is that this really is the best set one can put together at this crossroads.  It's also the most expensive.  Nothing I put together would last longer though, and I couldn't see myself upgrading to anything else once I eventually did.  Not only that, but the R11 set is still the best set at the highest level anyway, so it's not like learning the equipment and meter speeds now isn't a long term choice, too.  On top of this, it will give me a full set with consistent meter speeds, and put to rest this quibbling back and forth about what to do about equip.  I couldn't imagine myself needing anything else for months, and months.

Sure...I'm doing well with what I have now but I would be upgrading when I reach Tour Pro anyway and I think this set will help get me there faster than anything else.  I'm also tired of having a buffet of different meter speeds.

The grand total for all of that, plus a sleeve of Callaways, is ~5,600 credits...in case anyone was wondering.  A large bite, indeed but hopefully one I won't regret.

Thanks.  I just got done purchasing and equipping it all.  I'm already happy with it ;-)

The last piece of the puzzle is the level 35 Ghost Spider putter when I get there.  It's only 800 credits so I'll be able to pick it up right away.

You can blow $56 on a dinner out and the next day you flush it away. Those clubs don't fit in the toilet. LOL  Good choice and GL.  :-)

    ^^^ Yup,

Had that set to L69 RokBz,

With hindsight I should've bought the G20 irons at L59 then just the L69 driver...which combo will easily get you to Legend and / or the high end irons.

Well, that's exactly right ...and well said lol.  It's not like I was going to use the credits for anything other than equipment eventually, anyway.

As said, I have the Ghost Spider @ level 35 and then, longterm, I think I'm going to stick with Taylormade and just pop in an item here or there as I see fit.  There are some nice upgrades like the level 63 Tour set, the 68 Rocketballz and the 79 Burner 2.0's before the level 90+ R11 upgrade. That was part of my thought process in buying the Taylormade now - get used to the meter speed so there's no adjustment to it later on.  I can just keep buying the best equip now.

Not only that but...it all looks really nice, too ;-)

So, you weren't overly impressed with the L69 RokBz? Is their spin exaggerated?

don't wanna speak for Andy, but i'll bet he'll agree with me here ..

steer clear of the the lvl69 RBallz irons .. the big problem with those are the medium trajectory .. above 7 iron u can hardly stop the ball, even with full backspin & playin' a premium ball .. u won't see many players using those ..

rather go lvl59 G20's & from there Burner 2.0's .. big mtr speed difference to get used to goin' on to the Burners, but u'll have lvl79 - 90 to play with them .. trust me, that's a long time ..

Good to know (about the trajectory).  I didn't realize it would be that pronounced of an issue.

Taking that into account, I can see why they're implementing the RocketBladez.  Taylormade needs a line in the 59-70 range that competes with Ping's G20 set.
