I could hold off another 500 CR if needed but what would be best to buy for the money, in the 1400-1900/200 CR range? I am level 29.

    Currently I have:

    Tour Pro 9.5 Driver

    Tour Pro 3 Wood

    Starters Hybrid

    Starters Sand and Lob Wede

    Starters Iron Set

    Spider Putter

Srixon Z star XV Vapor Balls

I got the L32+ R11's and HATED them.  Got the Ping K15's and love them.

Tiger, it looks like a good set of irons and a couple of wedges would help substantially. The rll irons at lvl 31 are very good and will last you a long time. Also the ping wedges starting at lvl 41 are very good for the money. Eventually you will wont to drop the hybrid and go with three wedges. Whatever you decide, have fun.

These irons replaced the level 27 Burner 2.0 set that took me from hack to Pro and are pretty decent for the price.

TaylorMade Rocketballz Iron Set (Steel) (L27+

Also Gifted this set to my friend that used them from Amateur to Tour Pro and are the only low level High trajectory irons and pretty nice for the price.

World Golf Tour Tour Starter Yellow Iron Set (Steel) (L9+)

Or wait for the level 32 Ping irons.

    Good luck

    Joe

A level 28 Tour Pro, you are advancing quickly, thus you might hit Master sooner than you think. Then longer tracks will require better clubs from D(river) to I(rons). Save some credits for that time - perhaps try the cheaper WGT balls?

Furtheron, you will hit another level every day for a while if you collect the continuous days bonus. Each day brings better clubs!

For now, replacing the dreaded Starter wedges would be my only proposal. Get the best you can put your hand on, Pings are quite affordable - look for the better ones (dunno the level).

For a Master, the lvl 47 Raptures will be nice, or comparable clubs (Taylormades are some levels earlier).

Heres my take on what you could do. I will start with the bad news first so we have a happy ending lol.

For under 2000 credits you will not get the clubs that will help you long term. You are growing in levels very quickly at your stage and as pointed out, the higher levels bring better clubs. Yes you can spend the credits now and you will see an improvement in your game, but you would quickly outgrow these clubs.

You could get a set of Lvl 32 R11's irons (1995cr), great clubs but do have a faster meter speed than your existing clubs but will last you a long time  But thats no upgrade in driver or wedges.

Now the good news, you are scoring well with your existing clubs, so take your time to learn the game more. At TP distance is not such an issue from the tee (excepting a few holes) and for a minimal amount you coulld get a couple of the Ping Tour Wedges (lvl 18) at 110cr each. This will help your short game a lot. Basically the starters wedges are the worst clubs in your bag. There are better wedges available later but for the cost vs improvement in your short game, these wedges are worth it

When you do upgrade, I think it is worth getting a set that will carry you through to Masters/TM. In the meantime just enjoy the game and work on your short game.

And for Lonnie - no I am not a sales rep lol!.

I agree with Alanti but would suggest picking up the L14 56 and 64 ATV wedges for 295 each. They have more spin and will help more than the Pings. Then save up for later upgrades to better irons and picking up a 3rd 64 degree wedge, replacing your hybrid. Your driver, 3 wood and irons will suffice for now.

So basically from the last 3 posts it looks like I need to go ahead and get the two wedges  and build up to possibly a set of R11's at Lvl 32 then get a good driver down after that.  Any recommendations on what driver to pick up around level 35-40?

That really depends on what level and tier you are. If you are at Masters or close, you need a club that can go 270 yards, the G20 at level 58 is great, BUT it is recommended that you have clubs of similar meter speeds (the G20 is slightly slower. A 250 rated driver will do well at TP but is not enough at the Masters tees IMO.

I do agree with OBR - the ATVs are better clubs, I was primarily looking at cost. And 3 wedges is the way to go. A hybrid which is 175 yards is not required if you had the R11 irons (even with the starters clubs.

I'm not sure how to tell how close I am to moving to the next tier.  I know now I am level 29 with an avg. score around 73.  I haven't played in about a year, but played 5 days last week and have played all day today.
