I know what happened now. I transposed the OPs yardage.

You transposed the yardage? With what? Regardless of what you "transposed," what part of a 52 degree lofted club hitting the top of that bunker don't you understand? Or did you "transpose" that too?

The OP showed you what a 52 degree lofted club did. He actually had a replay and it did hit the top of the wall. First you say a less lofted club should have been used and now that you think you understand the situation you suggest an even less lofted club?!

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried. I hope the OP understands this.

    I was in 30/40 sand. 90 yards. I hit a 100% full 52 cleveland wedge.

    Hey guys,

Please stop fighting I'll be forced to give a timeout.

Let's try this again and this time assume you all are adults and have manners :)

Agreed. I was only pointing out experience. All players have a different way of approaching every shot.

I hope we can have a discussion about approach shots and not a grammar lesson.

choke back on your hybrid and punch it out of there next time i think you will like the results

Are we talking about the same shot?  This is the result of the OP's attempt to get out with a 52 degree wedge. The consensus is he was too close to the wall and hit the top. You're saying use an HB?! The arrow points to where the ball was in the trap. We already know a PW or 9 iron won't do it because they come out flatter than that wedge.

Thanks for the input everyone. I chose the CG 52 because of it's ability to get out of tough lies. I thought the 52 would do the job to get me out and potentially give me a look at bird. At no time did I or would I consider a PW or other iron knowing the result would not be favorable. I did not move the spin either. I left it at the default of a little topspin.

Backspin might(!) have made the difference. Alas, the knowledge that your (and my) equipment will not bring us to the green allows for a safer exit: Highest lofted club, full bs, full power...

LOL. OK, whatever works for you. Your 13.73% sand saves is a bit misleading.  :-)

IMO, there are times (especially with those bunkers at rsg) when the ball comes to rest too close to the lip of the bunker to get out with any club! Either the 52 degrees of loft that you tried to use wasn't enough loft to clear the lip of the bunker, or quite possibly you may have gotten the same outcome with an even higher lofted club bc of the lie/ proximity to the lip.

    Fore (sand save 75% lol)

p.s. as far as a hybrid goes, it will not work out of a bunker, only from a hard sand lie (15-20%).. there is a difference..
