Okay, so I know that when aiming your shots, the line is either blue or red.

Blue if the yardage you position the aim pointer is less than your clubs rated distance, and Red if the aiming pointer is greater than...

So, my question is this: Does it make a difference in the shot if you aim less than, equal to, or greater than the clubs rated distance?

My assumption has always been that the penalty for mis-hits (i.e. outside of the "ding" line) would be more severe if it was in the red, but I've seen more and more tutorials & videos where the aim line had turned to red. Thanks in advance, I've simply never seen this discussed.

I believe the OP is referring to all clubs, not just putting.

The penalty for off-ding hits depends on the playing characteristics of the club in use, including putters.

http://www.wgt.com/help.aspx#equipclubs - scroll down to Clubs

Avg. Distance: Displays the average distance the ball will travel when hit at full strength on a flat surface and with no wind

Trajectory: Indicates the general height of the ball flight

Precision: Defines generally how close to the aiming point the ball will land based on where you hit on the swing meter

Forgiveness: Displays how much Distance and Precision the ball will lose if not hit perfectly

Shot Shaping: Displays the level of "workability" of the club to move the ball left or right during flight

Spin: Defines the level of spin the club will transfer to the ball. A ball with more spin will stop faster on the green

Meter Speed: Indicates the speed at which the swing meter moves, with 5 being the fastest

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    How can I compare clubs?

When you are looking at item categories such as Drivers, Irons or Balls, you can compare up to three items at once by clicking the Compare checkbox for the item you want to compare. You must compare at least two items but can compare up to three items. After you have selected the items you wish to compare click the Compare button to see the attributes for each club listed next to each other.

No.... If you postion that aim arrow out to say, 400 yards, and hit with a 250 yard driver, the ball will still only travel roughly that  250 yards.

If you aim somehwere short of that 250 yards, and still hit with full power, the ball will still go around 250 yrds.

Assuming zero wind, the only thing that affects club's distance is how far you drag the power meter  or missing the ding line ( anything right or left of the ding is a mishit & usually loses some distance because it misses the club's sweet spot).

Thanks OBR, but I was specifically referring to all clubs excluding the putter.

My assumption had always been (assuming the following: 0 wind, flat lie, R11 3 iron hit 1/16th right of the "ding",) a shot aimed within the clubs distance (say 200 yards), producing a Blue arc line, would create a push to the right of say 5-10 yards. Conversely, a shot aimed in excess of the clubs rated distance (Say 300 yards), producing a Red arc line, might produce a push to the right of 15-25 yards, ergo a more severe penalty for aiming in the "Red".

Not in regard to shot distance, as stated before.

Alas, I had a very bad shot direction once when I moved the marker only a bit to the side (dragging in the main view pic) and it showed <10% of the distance - must have resulted in a very bad angle. It may also turn to the opposite direction under such circumstances.

Therefore, I tend to aim further than the desired landing zone just to avoid such hussle.

Sorry, I didn't understand a word you said then, which tells me your overthinking it too much. Don't worry about Blue or Red line.

Keep it simple...... Aim according to wind and hit. Well that's basic thinking, but it works for now :)
