    Oldbayrunner:

The playing field can be leveled for the most part with knowledge of your equipment and your ability to use it well... Someone with a lessor distance driver but better ability with longer iron approach shots and putting can negate that driving distance difference in a heartbeat.

Well put, as a MPC affection-ado, I say bring back the old rules, bring back the baggers to the MPC games, I have absolutely no problem with being out driven by 30 yards, because my 3 iron is better than their 8 iron and it evened out in the end for some very good games.

Now I must dance for 30 minutes to find a game.

I'm more than happy with the distance of my r11, the r11's will go in the bag when available, but I have played plenty of matches against it, and there is nothing about it that makes me want it now.

So True OBR. Last week I played in a  CC match play tourney . My second round match was against a new legend who only had the lower level G20's not the higher ones. I out drove him by an average 15 to 20 yards per hole. But due to his over all better play and better putting he won the match. Sure it took him 20 holes to do it but if I had not got hot and won 15,16, and 17 making 3 birdie putts of over 20 feet (something that I usually can't do) the match would have ended early. So the distance factor of lack there of is only minimal.

People put way too much emphasis on the driver.

I use a L59 G20 driver from the back tees and I am usually within 10 yards of other legends with R11 drivers.

High quality irons are way more important than the driver.

What Goats said ...plus learn how to putt ( 50% 1 putt or better ) and you will be able to compete with anybody.
