Imagine my frustration after years of playing and a few thousand off purchasing a gift card and they've suddenly disappeared!  If they are not hot, WHY REMOVE THEM.  No one cares about avatars, phone calls, but people do care about gift cards

Maybe there is a substantial group of players who were near cashing in a giftcard and is it exactly that why they needed to disappear.

I don't think anyone doubts that. The official response is "they were not hot items". Then they replace them with a virtual golf bag at the price of a real house at the Spanish coast

WGT managed to get a foot in the door of another advertiser.

That would be the good part. What's the latest #-6 million + members, or something like that? Multis notwithstanding, what % is that of the total world golf involvement? A foot in the door to a company that surely has more than 6 million viewers worldwide opens a huge door. We all know what the sheer mass of numbers can do to something.

We're all looking at this situation with somewhat game-experienced eyes. We know stuff a noob wouldn't. A  noob clicking on that link and discovering WGT may or may not stick around but you just know many will. IMO, that's what they're banking (or hope to bank) on.

Whilst I have never been motivated by them, I do have a huge amount of sympathy for you given the time and effort you have to put in to being able to cash in for one. I'd imagine it's not just the monetary value of them, it's also a sense of achievement in getting one.

Just think how you'll feel in the years to come when you are able to phone Mr WGT and tell him how he's been fecking you over all those years.

    ;^)

I think it would hurt and annoy WGT most if all the elite players who are leaving started handing out credits and balls to everyone ;)

Now that would be a worthwhile protest, every elite player who is leaving 'gift' a few sleeves of balls and a decent set of clubs to as many amateurs / pro's as they see fit. The financial loss to WGT would be significant.

P.S. I'm  tour pro so not eligible under my own 'rules'.

this whole thing is T.I.T.S. up ..

i don't even play for credits, but this has really upset me .. i'll find it difficult to keep supporting a game where certain factions try and take u for a fool ..

i enjoy this game since i enjoy golf, but i feel my days here are numbered .. out of principle

the sense of being part of something that has a "fck u over" undercurrent does not sit well with me ..

luckily for me i have other sim game interests & WGT is not the holy grail for me despite the fact that i really enjoyed it .. there will be somethin' else eventually i'm sure where the entity & it's "marketing dept" might yet have the sense not to take it's supporters on an aggravating shyte ride ..

have to say tho, IF i had 500K in winnings, i'd use it on setting a meet with this "marketing dept" .. just 5 min .. no words .. just baseball bat to heads .. maybe knock some sense into 'em .. i digress

best of luck to all .. fingers crossed that this pathetic joke will have an agreeable resolution for y'all ..
