Would like some insight on how 18 holes of ranked golf vs. 9 hole scores are computed.

I shot a 66 at st.andrews and my rank went from 68.54 down to 68.24. Imediately after played 9 holes on at st.andrews and shot 36 but went back up to 68.48.

I would have thought a 66 would have subtracted more ranked points, and a 36 would have added much more points.

    I'm still having fun !!

    From the FAQ:

    What is my Average Score?

Your Average Score is the weighted average of your ten best out of your last fourteen stroke play scores (Practice rounds are not included). Your most recent scores are weighted more heavily to ensure there is no "sandbagging".

I belive it is a ranking of a multitude of score history average..More like 10 of your scores averaged out to 1 ..So that 1 fluke -6 round wont hurl you into master tier or so sandbaggers cant just hit 1 horrible +10 round and keep a 90average..If you hit 10 back to back 36's you will most likely see an exact 72 average?Errrrrr i think atleast..this is just speculation on my observations of my average and gameplay :)So if im wrong i hope i dont get flamed ....Hope it helped tho:)

    Thanks,

That explaination does help, however I still think the 9 hole computing is a bit skewed. Just because one shoots 3 or 4 under par after ten 9 hole rounds make a master , vs someone who does grind out all 18.

For 9 hole games the average should be 20 games not 10. And 18 holes should be 10 game average.
