Still an amateur but getting up there in points (79) and credits (1,364) and I thought that I might spring for a new driver to help me get down the field a little quicker.  Any recommendations would be appreciated but also if anyone could fill me in on how to read the "meter" rating (slow v fast).  I think I know what it means but I'd hate to pick a driver and find out later I was wrong...

    Thanks!!

i would wait till you move up 1 more level and get the k15 a very forgiving club with a slow meter.

or if you can handle a faster meter then the r11 that is available to you already

Thanks, fairground.  I had been under the assumption that the meter always worked at the same speed on every club until I started "shopping" so, with your response, I'll assume that that's obviously not the case.  But that brings up one more question - does the meter speed have any effect on distance or anything else?  If not, I would have to believe that of two identical clubs except for meter speed, the slower meter one would always be best, right?

Agree with both. I got the K15 set minus the hybrid and have found them to be incredibly forgiving and the have done wonders for my game, they are just a tad short for the Master tees now, but still great clubs.

No i don't believe meter speed directly affects distance and having a slower meter speed is not always necessarily better. It really comes down to preference.  I personally prefer a slower meter from my clubs. Some people might prefer it a bit quicker, their reaction times are a bit better than mine ( age starting to show) Others take a club with a faster meter speed because it may be more precise or have more spin or higher trajectory or some other quality they prefer.  To slow the meter down those people may be in a position to consistently buy balls such as the max or callaways that slow the meter down for them.

Best advice i have is try and have a full set of clubs with either identical meter speeds or really close to identical.  Since you probably have starter clubs( i didn't look) the k15 is perfect cuz it is the same speed as the starter clubs.  You don't really want to have a driver with one speed then a 3 wd with another than irons with something else ( you get the idea) as you will find it hard to get in a rhythm through the course of a round, having to try and learn and feel all these different speeds.

hope that helps and made sense

You need to play more stroke-play and less Blitz to reach the next tier. Just saying. :-)

Thanks for that tip too.  Wondered if I was doing something wrong.

Thanks for that tip too.  Wondered if I was doing something wrong.  By the way, does stroke play (playing single) count or do you have to play match play for it to count towards your tier building?
