Hello.  My name is Scott and I am new here.  I have one main question:

    - How do I advance to Amateur status?  Is it by levels?  or by average score?  or by other means?

Great site!  Loads of fun and very ADDICTIVE!

    Thanks!

    Scott

    It will be by average.

To Amateur 100 average with at least 5 games as a Hack.

To Pro 80 average with at least 10 games as an Amateur.

To Tour Pro 72 average with at least 20 games as a Pro.

To Master 67 average with at least 25 games as a Tour Pro.

To Tour Master 63 average with at least 40 games as a Master.

To Legend 61 average with at least 50 games as a Tour Master.

To Tour Legend 60 average with at least 500 games as a Legend

Ranked rounds ( number of) and score averages. Keep playing ranked round games and you will be there soon enough.

    happy golfing!

Someone else work, I just copy/paste:

    • When your average score is equal or smaller than 100 you go from hack to amateur.
    • When it is equal or smaller than 80 you go from amateur to pro.
    • When it is equal or smaller than 72 you go from pro to tour pro
    • When it is equal or smaller than 67 you go from tour pro to Master
    • When it is equal or smaller than 63 you go from Master to Tour master
    • When it is equal or smaller than 61 you go from Tour master to legend
    • When it is equal or smaller than 60 you go from Legend to Tour Legend*

    and

    • you need to play at least 5 ranked rounds as hack before reaching Amateur
    • you need to play at least 10 ranked rounds as amateur before reaching Pro
    • you need to play at least 20 ranked rounds as Pro before reaching Tour pro
    • you need to play at least 25 ranked rounds as Tour pro before reaching Master
    • you need to play at least 40 ranked rounds as Master before reaching Tour Master
    • you need to play at least 50 ranked rounds as Tour Master before reaching Legend
    • You need at least 100 ranked rounds as Legend before reaching Tour Legend

Notice that those minimal number of ranked rounds are also the number of best rounds used to compute your average in that particular tier. So if you are Tour Master for example, your average is computed with your best 50 ranked round (that's why you need at least 50 rounds to move up).

It is important to note that this is an educated guess, and that WGT does not release the exact information requested in this thread.

That's the "old" way of calculating the tier advancements.  And despite Pizza, it was VERY accurate.  These days....not so much.  Playing match play games vs players in a higher tier, and winning, affects your average much more.....and the minimum ranked rounds don't count from match play.  Ready Go's are also rumored to affect your average more severely now, too.

So, advancing really requires this, Scott.......

    - Continually improving your average....by whatever means.

The numbers above are important milestones to aim for and watch, but they aren't the end-all and be-all anymore.  I've seen players very close but still not make advancement, and I've even seen a TourMaster with an average of 60.0.  That wasn't possible in the old days (unless he had very few ranked rounds).  This player told me he had been TM for 3 months......almost impossible by today's standards.

So, just do what you do and the promotions will follow in time.

    Thanks everyone for your help...

Question:  79.89 average with 14 ranked rounds.  Why was I not advanced to Pro?  Am I missing something?

Number of ranked rounds might be different from the overview. From legend to tourlegend needs many more rounds then mentioned there, maybe wgt changed the number of ranked rounds needed. The averages for promoting still stand as far as I know.
