LOL great post Owl and quite an interesting work around you have there.  I would say they are right speed is key which i feel like I have a really good handle on. I actually no longer get angry with putting or really at all with this game, ok just a little from time to time.  I am using a starter putter with very little of any of the attributes. If I miss the ding and miss the putt I know it is nothing more than that. Even if I hit the ding and miss a putt its probably because of that. It has very little precision and balance, so I can't get mad really

Where my dilemma lies is what you spoke about. Hitting the dance floor and dropping them inside 10 feet.  Since the jump to Master and the longer tees with longer approaches I have not totally perfected that. I am having fun trying different things and have flashes of brilliance and other times crash and burn.  At any rate,  I am finding my putts much longer.  Now maybe when i get some longer clubs that will all change, but I think at some point it won't matter. You will just have really long approach shots and you will have to have a solid putter to be competitive.

So what comes first the chicken or the egg. Buy really good putter now and for go some of the set I want.  Or get the full set, practice and see if I can get my approaches back on track and wait until i have enough credits to get the putter I want

and as i said before, there is a wealth of knowledge in these firums and I really just want to know what peoples real world experiences have been with these putters, and others. I like to be well informed before a purchase, not one to just grab aputter and then say oh crap this sucks, then come in forums and see that people been saying that it sucks for a while.

Either way, I am enjoying the game ATM. I know not all is perfect and it never will be, can make  some people happy some of the time, but not all of the people happy all the time.  Its fun reading a lot of these posts and getting to know some of you and look forward to maybe some day playing with you as well.

Thanks to everyone who has been contributing to this post

Sounds like the start of a good plan.  was always leaning towards the g20s, not sold on the Manta, but no hurry, maybe some other people will stop by the thread and leave some pearls of wisdom about the various putters.

Maybe I'll just rob a bank and grab the Nike

Maybe Ill roll all the way to Legend with my starter just for fun

Sweet, the lvl 51 nike putter is really good. The lvl 71 is only marginally better. Also the lvl 59 g20 driver will help tremendously. All your other clubs will do until tour master or maybe even legend. The sgtbilko putter scale will also help with distance. You can look on my home page and get the formula from sgt for speed. With the nike putter just hit the short putts (3-9) feet a little harder to get them to the hole. Have fun.

If you want to win the putter of your choice, have a go in Bhoese's comp. Play Oakmont no. 9 as a practice hole. Knock your ball in 3 or 4 to the back left of the green, 175 feet away. Then putt, and repeat until you hole it. Post a holed putt of this distance first and you win!

i was hoping my 100fter would hold up, but looking at that putt fmagnets....i doubt it! get me over to that corner and have another bash!

Wow thanks fmagnets...ill have to give it a go, although not sounding like anything less than 175 footer is gonna win it.  Been so busy I didn't even see this.

On another note I hit level 59 and as was discussed and expected i took the 4000 credits i had and purchased the full set of g20s.  I have only been able to play one practice 9 with them, using a starter ball and have to say I am already pretty impressed.

Played 9 Holes on Kiawah from my normal Master tees with typical very fast greens and moderate winds.  I was 100% on fairways about 70% on Greens and my average distance to pin was 4.3 feet.  It shows they have a slightly faster meter than my k15s did, but I can't really tell. Its almost if I am still using my K15s but just have extra distance.  I love the higher trajectory of the shorter irons, the balls just drop right in.  Even though there is at least 1 dot less forgiveness I didn't really see that.  Missed the ding a few times but still ended up pretty much where i wanted to be.

Still want to hear about the putters, because as i get better with these clubs and feel them out I am sure I will still be in the market, unless by some miracle i win the comp.  I will be travelling tonight and away for a few days so not likely i will have much time to play.

    good luck all

Guess we're all looking for better equipment thinking it will make us better players. I've used the level 35 Ghost for some time and am pretty close most of the time (except for the times I have a 25 foot putt downhill and forget to change the scale from 50 down to 25).

Most putts go where I aim and to be honest on any side breaking putts I've missed more short putts when I've dinged the putt than I have when I haven't dinged it. I have found that if I ding it it breaks more but if I miss the ding just slightly opposite the break it stays a little truer.

Have debated on picking up the 66 Ghost or the 77 Nike. Don't see enough improvement in dots for the next level Ghost (1/2 dot more precision and 1/2 dot more balance) so will probably wait and get the Nike (1/2 dot more precision, 1/2 dot more forgiveness and 1dot more balance). Give me a week or so and I should be at level 77 and can give you more feedback.

Of course if I spend 2,000 credits on the Nike and don't see much improvement you can probably pick up that Nike Method for free in the water by the 6th hole at Congressional. Already have a couple of wedges in there.

    Cheers

    Esty

((visions of me down by the water picking through the weeds looking for the Wedges))

oh wait, i don't need wedges just yet....

I actually don't think the clubs will make me better per say.  I am a pretty good player, above average I believe and that is without taking notes and memorizing every hole and pin placement etc.  I am not elite and doubt I will be, but believe having a few select pieces of equipment will certainly help me maintain a little bit of an edge and maybe win smoe credits here or there

See your point about the move up from the L35 Spider to L66, kind of similar to the post i saw about the move from the L51 to L77 Nike.  I think some of those moves only make sense if you have extra credits to burn and aren't bothered about losing them if you don't get much more success out of them.

Difference for me is I have a starter putter.  I still do pretty decent with it, but i only have .5 or 1 dot  across the board so maybe anything would be better than what I got, just want to hear what other people have experienced...thanks for your feedback and look forward to the feedback about the Nike
