Time for a new putter - which one?

  I haven't used it but I have read a lot of positive posts on the level 55 TM Rossa. At only 725 credits there's a lot of support for that one. From what I've read supposed to be better for those that don't "ding" as often as others.

  I used the Rossa and found it to be an excellent putter, especially for the price.  I bought the L77 Nike and won't go back to the Rossa.  There really isn't that much of a difference - the meter is significantly slower, I prefer the 10-20-50 scales, and the Nike seems to be more consistent on very long putts.  Both putters are extremely accurate when dinged, possibly even perfect, and neither will leave you with anything more than a gimmee on a missed ding (provided you got the break and distance right to begin with).  

  fmagnets makes an excellent point about putter economics in general.  For you, jsweetcr, it might make more sense to get the Rossa and jump back into the RGs.  The Starter putter will occasionally miss putts as short as 8 feet, maybe even 6 feet, when you do everything right including hitting the ding.  If you play RGs with that thing, you'll give away the 725 credits in short order.  If you get the Rossa, you'll have everything you need to need to earn in Master and Tour Master RGs and hopefully get off the videos & surveys hamster wheel for good.

  One more thing...the Rossa is better than its dots, so don't worry about those.  It has plenty of forgiveness around the ding line.

  i used the starter putter until about a week ago when i purchased the L51 Nike Method because the swing meters are the same. You can get pretty precise with it, but there has been a bit of a learning curve in figuring out distance and how the putts break.

  On February 14th I went ahead and shelled out for the MAX L80+ putter. I prefer the increments of the 80+ over the MAX Master version.

  A special thank you goes out to Borntobesting for sharing his experiences using this putter, as well as comparing it to the Redwood I'd used previously. You made my decision to make the purchase so much easier.

  Without practicing with the MAX L80+ putter, I played 9 holes on Bethpage and shot a 30, my second best score ever. Followed up by a 31 on CCC and 32 on Famous Holes.

  The ball rolls true. It goes where I hit it. That's all I can ask of any club.

  With the Redwood I had decent confidence I had a chance to sink any putt inside, say, 12 ft. Now, even 20+ ft putts are going down. It's exhilarating, gotta admit.

  Make the read and fire away. If I miss I know it was a bad read. No more watching putts stumble drunkenly towards the cup.

  Also, distance control has been superb. I didn't have much problem lagging putts with the Redwood, as distance is my first consideration when putting. But I knew I had no chance of sinking longer putts. 

  It's a whole new ballgame.

  my pleasure. I got the Max Master today. I too can certainly see the difference and agree it goes where you want.

  I just need to learn the nuances of this putter.  For example I am seeing on the 10 ft increment that you have to hit it harder than you think and somewhat with the 20 ft increment as well but when you jump to the30 + increments the ball rolls more like i am used to and I have to adjust for the green speeds etc.

  I can already see the lines and accuracy are much better and I am not missing those 5 footers on a missed dinged putt.

  Will update in the future more of my experience. I do believe it is going to take a moderate amount of time to learn the putter, but worth it in the future

  Been looking at my putting lately and thinking that I may need to get me a new putter.  The starter putter has certainly done me right for a while, but just noticing my ability to drain those 15-20 footers is very limited with the lack of forgiveness and precision it has.  Was no problem when i could drop the ball within 8 ft regularly, but now as my approaches lengthen and I progress, i am finding I have less 5 and 8 foot putts and more 12 and 15 and 20 and I just am not making them even with just a slight miss of the ding

  Available to me at the moment are the Ghost Manta and Spider L 30 and 35 respectively, Redwood L44, Nike L51, Daytona L55, and Max Master.  Although it seems the no brainer decision would be the Nike or the Max(based on dots) I feel both of those are out of my price range.  I have a full set of G20s to purchase in one level as well. 

  From what i have read here before it seems the redwood and Daytona are more suited to people who like "off ding" putting due to there high precision but low forgiveness.  My game over the past couple months has really been built more on forgiveness because of having the K15s and I don't off ding putt(except when i am inside 4 or 5 ft)

  That leaves the 2 ghost putters.  Essentially they have the same dots in all areas, but dots don't tell the whole story.  Increments are different. 

  Would like to hear some peoples feedback on these different putters or any other advice. I find there are a huge group of really giving people who pass on some really good advice. I have received it before and it did me wonders, so I thought I would come back to the well. 

  Also open to any other advice as maybe I have missed something in my research of the putters and again numbers don't really tell the whole story.

  Well I've had several and the Nike is the best all around I've had. That said, the Ghost Spider is a very good putter, though not quite as forgiving as the Nike. I'd look at the putting increments see which you like,(can't remember if that's shown on all putters so you might have to ask around.)

  Sorry to Hijack this thread (but you seemed finished with it). 

  I'll be level 80 tonight and Master in the next week (I  hope). Up until now I've happily used the Ghost Manta (level 30?) using the avatar movement method and I've been very happy with it. However my CC has set up a good few tournament speed green tourneys and this system struggles to cope with putting distance on those greens especially downhill. So I'm thinking of switching to the multiply the distance by a constant (depending on green speed) system. 

  For that system I've looked around and I'm down to the Max Master or the Max level 80, due to the large amount of putter increments and precision. I've seen some mention of both of those putters in this thread but according to the dots they are the same. Has anyone used them both and have any suggestions as to which one is better?

  P.S. I'm a (try and) hit the ding putter.

  Hi John, I tried the Max Master (free rental)  and was a nice putter and did like the increments BUT I was still happier with the Mike Method. The main reason was the Nike has a slightly slower meter  speed (I am also a try-to-hit the ding putter).

  But putters are what you like and are personal, even on this game. As for green speeds the small increments may help but on tourny speed greens or faster, I personally think you need to do the maths rather than the Avatar Movement, especially when you have more than a  2 inches downhill.
