It's kinda like in the early 1900's in the coal mining industry where the company would issue scrip money that could only be spent at the company shops at inflated prices.

So, I guess there is a precedent for WGT's marketing strategy and attempts to maintain a perpetual revenue stream. I think most of that was done away with during the mine wars that soon followed. People can only take so much.

    Just sayin.

And hurry up if you want one. Suncity28 bought one of the three they had available...lol, way to throw that curve ball bro. lmao

You wouldn't catch me even dead at paying those prices, and wearing them. I don't care if it some marketing scheme to get people to use there 6 figure credits. Even if I had that amount of credits. Their Elite system not enticing enough to pull me in to buy any of it at those insane prices.

Why is it that all the new WGT branded items are about six times the price of normal  Nike gear ?

Not really true. Someone posted a link where it shows the same shirt to cost $50. That's the US price. Where i'm from, Nike shirts like that start at around $70 mark (50+ euros). So if you consider the fact that the conversion rate for gift cards was 6 to 1, these shirts are actually a great deal. I'll most likely buy one for myself.

Can get them here in the UK for between £22 - £23  , which is just under $36 .

They seem to have them on Amazon.com , unless i'm looking at the wrong thing ( it's possible ) for $28 for a black one .

Quite possible, but that's probably a sale price. The regular price on Nike's page is $50 and new Nike stuff always costs in Slovenia much more than it does in the US. But my point is, the conversion rate is still better than it was for the gift cards, so if you can cash in some otherwise worthless credits and save some real cash, why wouldn't you. People, who have 18.000+ credits to spend, probably didn't get them by buying them for actual cash, so in most  cases, they wouldn't be paying $180 for a shirt, but would be actually getting it for free (besides the time they spent playing). And that's a good deal in my book.

Yes , i suppose so , i never need worry about having any credits to spend , would have to be a cash sale if i were to buy one , which is why it seems expensive to me .

Regardless of the cost, the big difference with a shirt and a gift card is the choice of how to use/spend the credits (if you are lucky enough to have that many). The top players are very limited on what REAL goods they can get.

But on price I have seen thousands of Nike shirts (in fact most brands) for as little as a dollar or two in China (must admit I have even bought one or two at that price). Were they the real McCoy??? I hope so as I would never endorse any copyright infringement LOL!
