    Hi there...

I've been playing for a couple of months now and been updated to Pro.

I was able to upgrade my equipment and now I'm stand with:

    Driver: Ping Rapture V2 (L24+)

Wood / Hybrid: WGT Starter Plus

    Irons: WGT Starter Plus

    Wedges: WGT Starters

    Putter: TaylorMade Spider (L19+)

Driver has worked for me in order to recover the N yards that you start farther once you're pro and Putter has been a great addition.

Now I've got around 900 credits and was wondering what clubs to upgrade. At first I thought of wedges (as those are the only ones I didn't upgrade) for Ping Tour Wedges (L41/2), but now I'm having second thoughts, mainly due to the number of times you use wedges compared to irons or the extra yards a new wood can provide...

    What would you suggest....

    Thanks in advance

    Martin

Go for the wedges - a no-brainer for me!

I judge these Starter wedges to be the worst clubs in that set, closely followed by the 3WD. Custom wedges will make a precision short game much easier, most of all the chips (a TL told us to avoid Starter chips at all cost!).

    Enjoy!

    Get them pings!

My first wedges I got were the 40+ Pings...worked well for many levels and into (close) TL)..

Short game is King...learn chip, pitch, flop and punch with each club...you'll then be happy:)

Yep, a good set of wedges will improve your game more than almost anything else.  If you currently carry a hybrid then drop it and get 3 Ping Tour W wedges with nice even distance gaps.  You have to get the 64° one which goes 60 yards, then pick 2 others that will bridge the gap from that to your PW in your iron set as evenly as possible.  Don't forget to use punch shots with them too, you can cover pretty much all distances with them if you do.

As Mike says, learn to pitch, chip and flop with them and you'll be able to save par from situations that are now ending with bogies or worse.

Probably the best 600 credits you'll ever spend.  Sure as hell better than a sleeve of Max balls and they'll last you forever.

This is excellent advice.  I'll only add that it would be wise to buy them for even spacing with the PW on your next set of irons.

What the hell, threw in some wedges too, just get some decent balls.

    Shoot low! :-)

Thank you all for all your suggestions.....

I've been reading about wedges and it seemed a very good choice, and even though I was having second thoughts on whether to get wedges or irons first I believe all your opinions are in the same way I was originally thinking...

I believe I'll try those pings and see how it goes.... I'll come back in a while and let you know about it.
