mnshiner: I am wondering now if Corwyn has gray hair after putting on two of these things.
Oh yes! Many gray hairs... lol.
The most frustrating part of this kind of tourney is wondering if the participants will remember to "get 'em played." I always go in thinking there's no way I'm going to spend the time reminding people via wallposts etc... and then in the end I do relent and do just that. But with a pairs tourney, it really shouldn't be necessary: you have to expect players to be able to make arrangements with each other, and you have to assume that compatible playing time availability is already a given when they paired up.
I think short of extending the deadline, and sending out lots of reminders, you've done just the right thing here. It's a 4-week competition: it looks as if week 1 has made it clear which teams can really commit, and it's much better to have fewer players that are truly committed, than a large field that needs a lot of cajoling to play.
mnshiner: The problem is no one played in Maulwurftöter's bracket which leaves Hans and MizzyMan empty handed so to speak. What I would like to do is pair up the "Dreamteam" which had a really good score in the first round against them if there isn't any objections.
This sounds like a great solution to me. It rewards the best-scoring losing team with another chance (but against the favorites!).
Shiner: you might want to say what your plan is now for the loser's bracket, since there are only 2 other teams that submitted losing 1st-round scores (I'm unsure about status of Birdierabbits?).
Might I suggest that you create a new 'bracket' next week with those two teams, Unbalanced and Wassermanner, and the four 2nd round losers: you could either find a way to make it work with 6 teams, e.g. all 6 play last 2 courses, and 'losers bracket' prizes go to teams with best aggregate scores; OR, ask Unbalanced and Wassermanner to play RSG 2nd Round as well, and then create an elimination losers bracket of 4 teams based on the best 4 scores out of the 6 losing teams (the two 1st round losers, and the 4 2nd round losers).
That's my 2 cents: you're doing a great job, btw, in difficult circumstances!
