I am a beginner here, but I am trying to fine tune my understanding of my clubs. I have noticed my 3 Iron seems long. I'm guessing as much as 10 yards. I want to get some other players opinion, and the benefit of your knowledge on other clubs in the set. I think they are pretty good overall, but my 3 iron is making me wonder if it's the overall quality of the set or just that iron.
I like the PW a lot, and any other problems I may be having are most likely operator error - though it is hard to tell without playing much more than I have with the set.
One unrelated question I have, of anyone kind enough to share their wisdom, is how do people feel about a strategy of gear selection where one chooses all their clubs with the same or as close to the same speed meter? I am thinking how I miss hit my wedges a lot because I am switching from my slow meter irons to the medium speed wedges. So far as I can tell the creators of this game have intentionally added wedges without any slow meter speeds just to make the whole thing more challenging and it works, but if I switch my drivers and irons to medium speed meter's I'd get used to that speed and possibly get the ding more often. The highest levels of drivers are mostly medium speed meters, though there are a few which go 275 yards with a slow meter. I am using a slow meter driver, irons, and putter (though the putter is rated at "slow" it seems faster than the drivers and irons slow meter). Any thoughts on these subjects? I'd love to hear from experienced players, but don't expect them to really be using Rocket Bladez nor have any desire to mix with us lowly beginners so I was thinking us beginners should stick together and help each other, and avoid bothering our betters with naive questions. Hopefully, no one takes any offense to my kidding around a bit with my language. i.e. I have nothing against Tour Legends, and I am sure there are many who are generous with their time trying to mentor newbies.
Soon we will be Tour Legends and we will have developed a sort of group. In that vein I was hoping their was a beginners section on this forum, but I don't see one so this is my attempt to reach out to other beginners.
I got my first EAGLE today and am stoked. LOL. I would be prouder of my accomplishment if I had dinged the shot, but as often is the case, I got a good result from two mistakes. I missjudged the wind and then corrected the problem with a missed ding. But I'll take it. I've hit the flagstick three times in one round but just couldn't put together the shots for an Eagle.
I look forward to sharing info on this forum and playing some golf with anyone willing to play. Is there somewhere I can meet people in real time here on the forum for getting a threesome together? Taking my chances with random pickups results in a fair amount of wasted time with people who have connection problems, etc.
Anyway.....thanks for listening and good luck out there.
