From what i see and hear, maybe a full scotsman's breakfast might do, or a smart looking cable knit sweater, she will need it in miami!     my nickle.

"Upon each of us reaching 18 years of age, his gift was $500,000 along with his serious advice to manage it well because he would never give another penny. Being the baby of the family, I was able to barter for a bit more because of inflation."

SP- You and your siblings are very fortunate to have been gifted such a large sum to provide you with a great head start in life...very few people can afford to do that for their kids...(no idea how long it would take to save that amount of money if one had to work at McDonalds or Subway)....I am pleased you were prudent with the gift and didn't blow it on a Ferrari, or something.

"I have a law degree from USC but have no intention of taking the bar exam...no interest, in fact I don't even know where my diploma is; it was obtained to satisfy the wishes of my parents."

This confuses me a bit....why go to law school (or any school) to obtain a degree in which you have zero interest ? (library card is much cheaper)....you don't seem the type to acquiesce just to please people, even parents....and assuming your father is still alive, he must see that you have no intention of ever using the degree to become a lawyer...so, not sure what the point was.

Overall, though. I do enjoy your posts very much and you seem like a well adjusted and very intelligent young lady.....:)

Thank you CT...I suppose what I should say is that laws and understanding them appeals to me very much being subject to them and being confident in knowing that I don't need to go to someone, for a fee, to explain the workings and finer points of them to me, should something arise to compel me to a courtroom. It also allows me to better judge any contracts I may get involved with along with a much stronger position with which to be better armed for negotiation. I hate court, and courtrooms but desire to know the law. Yes, my Pop is still alive, about to hit 68....still working.  ~SP~

Thank you Droolingtroll. Dad is still hanging on, still a Marine. He has gone from 212 to 164 in weight. Spoke with him tonight and he is worried about me. Taught me how to shoot a rifle and said I was the one he wanted to have his back. Not much more I could ask for.

Thanks for a place to vent :

Mum & Dad split up before I was born, mum did her best to give my sister Karen & I a good up bring but it's the same old story... She never had any money left at the end of the fortnight to take Karen & I out, we had school a roof over our heads & three meals a day she said & we were lucky to have that...

    OR....

I was an only child, Dad's a fitter & turner and Mum was a nurse, they both drank a lot & always had parties for there friends on the weekends... Friday nite's were always fun for me, I got to drink as much as I could & I always ended up spewing all over my self & then it was time to work..... It was always an older man that washed me down in the shower, ( I hated it ) I'd fall all over the place ( to drunk to stand on my own ) & he or them would then gather me up & place me where I was needed...

Talk to my glass of Rum & rum said " If hate was an empty glass of beer, your glass would be spilling over the top " I only hate ppl who hurt me first...

The details of my life are quite inconsequential.

    Very well...where do I begin...

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery.  My mother was a 15 year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet.

My father would womanize, he would drink.  He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark.  Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy - the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

My childhood was typical: summers in Rangoon, luge lessons.  In the spring, we'd make meat helmets.  When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard, really.

At the age of 12 I received my first scribe.  At the age of 14 a Zoroastrian named Vilmer ritualistically shaved my testicles.  There really is nothing like a shorn ***.  It's breathtaking.  I suggest you try it.

    pdb1:

I was looking for the " Let's Be Honest " thread and I came across this interesting collection of comical fiction .

There's always one pdb1 - or occasionally more than one!

Sad to see that many have taken this thread as comic relief. It was intended to be as the name stated. All good things must end I guess. I'm still 63, my father is still failing and my sister-in-law is in late stage 3 ovarian cancer. My wife is a basket case over her sister and I am quite emotional about my Dad. Anyone else care To Be Honest, please chime in.
