    renniw52:
Read my status on my profile and please try to be nice.

But you're getting mean! lol :)

Well, trawled through the first tranche of posts - and they were great, really interesting to see some 'real' people here.

I live on the Isle of Man (middle of the Irish Sea between UK and Ireland), been here since 2000. Great little place - amazing scenery, varied coastline, fairly laid back. There's the TT road races too which are amazing. Got a little marketing company which is doing OK and gives me a bit of time to play wgt during the day.

Fell out of love with the game a year or so ago, then joined UK Golfers Elite - that really brought back the fun and enjoyment for me and I've made so many friends. There's some talk of having a meet up early next year which will be great.

Great wife (don't tell her I said so...she'll think I've done something wrong...again) 2 boys, who are now men and more mates than sons. 28 or so years married - and due to hit the big 50 next October.

Played a bit of real golf, got down to 6 but don't get out much last few years - plan to rectify that soon. 1st car was a Fiat 127 (a bit smaller than some of your american ones lol) - got drunk one night and drove it over a ditch splitting it in half. Walked up to a light in a farmhouse, door was opened by a Viking and someone who looked like Cleopatra... turned out they were having a fancy dress party, it was their field and because of what they were smoking/drinking, they didn't want to call the police. Lucky break! But then I've been a lucky person - and I do love every minute of this crazy game of life.

Jeez...I've hardly started lol. Ah well, probably enough for now. Really enjoyed reading about everyone.

Thanks for reading WGT'ers - tis a pleasure to be part of all this. Go easy all and have fun.

    Steve

I only read a few of the early entries here, but I plan on coming back and reading more. I also plan on telling my CC members about this thread. But part of the deal is to be honest, and tell a bit about oneself, so here goes:

I play this game all I can justify to my conscience. Which is about two or three single plays and a couple of Alt-Shot games per day. I love it. It's a real challenge to improve and I am improving.

I am a commercial fisherman in Alaska. Semi-retired. I am 63 but make enough to avoid taking my social security. This year I fished about 2 months. I fish for King and Coho salmon mostly. Trolling. With hook and line.

I am married for the second time. No children. Both a blessing and regret. My first car was a 1960 Plymouth Valiant I paid 50 dollars for in 1973. It used almost as much oil as it did gasoline. I started buying 50 weight recycled oil to keep it going, and eventually, the transmission quit working in first gear, so I drove it in second gear to a wrecking yard which paid me $35 dollars for it.

I live on my fishing boat in Craig, Alaska. Grew up in Seattle during the beginnings of the drug infusion. Many of my friends from school have already died of drug overdoses or from Hepatitis C. I avoided that one, but did pay the piper with a strange version of Hepatitis A or B.....I forget which.

I never got hooked on any severely addictive drugs like heroin or alcohol, but instead enjoyed weed so much I could ignore the dangerous ones. I took way more LSD than I should have, but it didn't harm me I guess.

Recently, I voted in favor of legalizing marijuana in Alaska. It passed 52% to 48%. Last year I visited Colorado and legally bought some New York City Diesel marijuana of the Sativa variety. Very nice. And especially nice to be able to partake of a substance legally that is far safer and less toxic than my legal alternatives such as beer or wine.

My hat is off to anyone who is high on life. Good for you. I avoid using weed before or while I am playing WGT golf. My play suffers noticeably and lose more balls. Though with practice I can adjust my game and play well while stoned, it takes an enormous amount of concentration to play well while high, so I don't bother. I just play in the mornings after I wake up and am sober.

After I read a few more of these entries, I may add to this post. Anyways....it is nice to meet you all. I look forward to reading more entries soon, and hope to play with or against some of you in the future.

I have never said this to my son before .

I,m proud of you mate .

My son was never the brightest kid at school . When he left i had to write and post plenty of cv,s for him as he didn,t seem too bothered about a job .

He eventually got a job as an apprentice joiner but a year later gave  it up . We were in despair .

He then got a job paying minimum wages as a storeman  in a car showroom . Luckily 6 month,s later the assistant  manager left and  he got the job . A year later the manager left and he got the job .

He was then promoted to a bigger branch but 3 years ago at 26 he was head hunted and offered a job in saudi arabia selling earth moving equipment , trucks etc .

He flies around the middle east doing deals now all the time and has just been promoted to director of the company at 29 . His biggest customer is the bin laden family who he tells me are all great guys except for the one idiot in the family .

Free house , free car,  tax free wages and big bonus,s . He loves it .

Went to visit him last week in dubai and he has grown up into a confident young man .

So i thought i would say this as i never have done to his face .

But - Can somebody please tell him his mum needs him to find a wife as she is desperate to be a grandmother .

Are you listening beth . They are only good friends . I believe . Holding hands  would get them locked up for 6 month,s in saudi .

Any parent with an ounce of humanity and 10 + brain cells always wants a better life for their children than they had for themselves.

Flesh touching under Sharia law will find your son and his girl in a far more unpleasant situation than 6 months in the grey bar hotel. Tell them to NEVER let their guard down and be ever vigilant.

Strange how as parents as we want the best for our children, however we ride them pretty hard about their choices for a job, career. We tend to tell them they can always do better.

    A parents perspective and expectations.

As your's, most succeed in their choices almost as to show us up. He was at the right place at the right time. All by his choice. That is what makes all the difference in the world with most successful people.

Congratulations to you in raising what seems in a few sentences, a very fine young man in a harsh environment. You should feel proud.

Please have the wisdom to tell him he has, and is, doing a fine job.

While you're at it tell him "Thanks for proving me wrong".

Time is fleeting, don't waste one second of it when it comes time to acknowledge the accomplishments of family or friends.

I had two sons. I was proud as the proverbial peacock when they proved me wrong on many levels of my expectations of them.

I hope his choices continue to be fruitful ones long into the future along with yours.

Just in case you did not know. The commissions on the heavy equipment of that magnitude you are speaking of, are in the tens of thousands of dollars. For just one. If he is moving 1/2 a dozen pieces of large equipment of which is required over there he is making $80,000.00 plus a year. That is just 1/2 a dozen pieces. With a good customer base he is doing much better than that.

Good to hear good news in here for a change. You're a very lucky family.

I just hope my 3 children have good lives, love their kids like I have mine and stay healthy. I could have made a lot of money in my life, but would not have been home enough to be the father I wanted to be. Great job with your son my friend. Hope he stays safe and returns to the real world soon. Too late for me to recoup now, no regrets.
