I know u can put top spin and back spin,on the ball...But why not put the spin anywhere on the ball,so u can spin the ball left or right went landing on approach shots ect,,,,ie cut the ball sideways.

    just a thought ...???

This is possible to a degree, by off centre hits and wind direction, anything other than what we can already do wouldn't be very accurate in comparison with real life golf

This has been bought up in previous threads,  some people say 'miss the ding' either left or right, but my personal view l've found is that there is an amount of reduction in power to an extent when attempting this.

Whether or not WGt implement the ability to move the 'dot' on the ball left and right, as well as up and down remains to be seen.

Whilst this would be nice, it would need significant programming changes. Opening/closing stance, ball placement and grip changes. By just moving the dot would make it too easy IMO.

Perfect example of missing the ding...

On Beth#2 off the Blacks with Full B/Spin and Full shot....  aimed correctly,  I click the Line before the Ding and you end up (missing trees) on the fairway with a 90yrd shot to pin...depending on wind. Since I was told about this I havn't hit those trees yet (I probably will now....lol) This shot can be played off any tees too.

Also quite a few holes on Oly it's good to miss ding right or left off the tee.

It's easier to miss ding left than missing ding right.

dont think need to go that far,i understand about the draw and fade stance, but just a simple dot that can move up-down-left-right,would do for me .......

If and when they do introduce shot shaping it will be done correctly. As I understand it they had it early on and was not pleased with the results and said it would not be brought back until it was right and simply moving the dot right and left wouldn't do it IMO.

Go play a uneven lie round and you will get all the side spin you will ever want.

Stance changes, grip changes, position changes with respect to the ball, all combine to produce an angle of club path with respect to the center of the ball and an angle of club face with respect to the point of contact.

These can be reproduced to a first approximation with a fully movable dot. A better approach would be a fully movable dot with a ball also movable with respect to the ding line, which would be replaced with a ding cross-hair. One would represent point of contact and the other would represent spin applied. Consequently, anything from a push or pull to a slice or hook could be generated.
