I was trying to decide between R11 and G20.  Thought I would probably go with R11 as it seems more popular for high level players...

Then WGT adds this curveball to the mix.  Honestly, I'm now probably leaning towards the R1 due to forgivness, but seems that the level 48 assignment is out of whack.  It seems that this driver will really shift the balance for lower tier players in match play (275 yds from shorter tees).  Don't get me wrong, I like the specs of the club.  However, it seems that many of WGT's comperable clubs are matched pretty well to tier and level (with some minor exceptions) and this one doesn't fit the trends.

WTF?  Maybe the programmer at WGT meant to input level 78 on the keypad and his finger slipped and hit 4 instead of 7!

Credits for me are a premium so I want to make a satisfying purchase. I'dlove to hear others preferences/comments.

    Thanks!

If past practice is any indicator, if the specs are close, the higher level club will perform better.

I cannot imagine the lvl 48 club would outperform the lvl 81 Ping.

Plus if past practice is any indicator 5 yards difference is but a myth, with the right ball, it will probably be more like 20 yards.

I have the lvl 88 r11 and had the lvl 81 g20, while the difference is not significant all the time, more than occasionally the r11 seems to smash one out there and can approach the 300 yard mark against the wind occasionally, something the g20 never did for me.

I have played plenty of MP against the ping, and often the drives are similar, but again occasionally the r11 will go a full club by the ping.

It makes a ton of sense to wait till lvl 90 for the full set and selling the hybrid makes for a good deal, but lvl 90 from 88 is a long long time.

I have the R11 +88, Nike +75 and the R1 48+ and I really like the R1 48+.   In fact every opponent I have played who play the G20 +81, I have been able to outdrive them 100% against wind, and about 85% with backwind (at the same tee box).  With the forgiveness of the level  +48 R1, there is no reason to miss a fairway agian  See my review on the R1 48+ club info.  I had the G20 81+ until the Nike came out.  I will take all three clubs before I would use the G20, was never a fan.

Level 89 Tour Master.  Almost have my AVG. down to make Legend.

I currently have the G20 Driver (81) and R1 Driver (48).  I have decided to carry them both but not at the same time.  I will switch drivers as the situation dictates.

I am not going to buy the R11 (88) Driver.  I do not see it being superior to the G20 in any meaningful sense.

R1 Level 48 is quite a bit shorter then the G20.  I like the idea of the extra forgiveness the R1 Level 48 offers.

My plan is use the G20 as my primary Driver and the R11 for tight course or heavy wind.  I will sacrifice the distance to stay in the fairway.

So my recommendation is the G20 for all around play.  Not upgrade again until Level 94 and get the R11S and then the R1 at Level 98.  A long time between Level 94 and 98.

    Just my 2 cents. :)

The club is med/high loft , which is what you dont need. You are playing from the back tees, so you want high loft. For you the R1 level 48 , would be a waste of credits . I play the G20 L81+ , and its a good club. Slow meter , which I prefer ,and with the srixon 11+ ball , I get 290-300+ yards at any given time.Never played the R11 L88+ , so cant comment on it. But the bottom line, is you want a driver with loft , absolutely . So the question is do you want a fast or slow meter , and then pick the one you want. Both seem to be good clubs, you just have to learn it. Hope this helps. Happy Swinging
