I know that we will never put in any type of automatic gimmies for stroke play but can we do something like this for alt shot?

I think that if the game had the option to have auto gimmies at 2.0 and 3.0 feet then it would speed up play a good deal and cause some ill will to go away.  People can get pretty upset if they are made to putt a short putt.

Looks like a quick and easy way to speed up play and save a few dings to the putter pal as well.

Heck I would accept the ding to putter pal if they could allow it to speed up the game.

I hate to sit there while player a waits for his 1.8 foot putt to be conceded by player b who has gone to grab a drink.  Then the argument ensues about conceding putts.

I agree 100% ^^^^^^,,,,,  but the problem is there are still people that miss them putts so why give somthing to someone that has not earned it first...

Dont take this wrong i understand what you all are saying 95% of people i play with will not miss them but there still alot of people that do that are new an in lower tiers playing on dif green speeds.....

I just say leave it there to many probs with the game already with all this new stuff being added an all the bugs that came along with it..........

When I play A/S or match play I will concede almost anything unless it is for the match. But usually before play starts I ask not to be conceded anything under a foot. I desperately need all the putting practice i can get.

Conceding and not conceding is all part of the strategy of golf. Mind games.

I happy to concede a straight 3 foot putt on St Andrew's 9th but not a 3 foot putt on St. Andrew's 2nd with a 3 foot break

That is one hole I won't even concede a 1 foot putt. I have missed quite a few of them there.

I understand your reasons for speeding up the game and most putts 3 feet and under are virtual gimmies, however there are exceptions to the rule (BGP #15 for example) and in any form of matchplay, this is part and parcel of the game. I am often happy to concede a 6 foot straight putt but make someone putt that breaking 2.5 footer - its called mind games lol. And most games I play (with friends) it is rare that a 3 footer isn't conceded. And why anyone should get upset about not conceding a putt is beyond me and can only assume they are a gamer not a golfer.

And after all the time it takes to load a screen and sink a 3 footer isn't long
