In today's USGA virtual Open first Round. I was 20 feet from the pin on the fringe a few inches off the green. I tried to putt and hit a good stroke (near the hit line with proper distance) and the putt did not move, tried again adding more distance and same thing happened. Finally had to chip.

I submitted a bug report and saved a replay.

This happens a lot on several courses, I was playing Oakmont today in a practice round and had a 20 foot putt from the fringe that was about 5 inches downhill.  I moved to the 15 foot guide and hit it about 6 foot and didn't move, tried it again and same thing, when I hit it about 10 feet it went 10 feet by.  Don't think it is a bug just have to be very careful when putting from the fringe, esp when you are trying to barely hit it.

Same happens to me on holes where there is a down slope to the pin. In these cases, always check your lie, and then chip.

flop shot works awesome in that scenario and from that distance - anywhere between 10 and 30 yards is a good range to use the flop, and you get more consistent distances once you practice the flop and know how to set it up and hit it!

this has happened to me, i submitted a report and never had a response.

How are you supposed to know if this is going to happen? Does it only happen on certain holes? If so can wgt provide a list. Should we use flop all the time from the fringe just to be sure, 9 out of 10 times putting from the fringe is fine, so why does this happen? It was  BP #6 back left where it happened for me, during a paid for tournament.

had my first ever putt from the fringe that didnt move today.  Oddly enough it was Oakie #2.  The only thing I did differently than normal was use the Reverse View for my putt.

I know many people always putt using the Reverse View so I thought maybe that was a possible cause of the problem.  I've chipped many times using the Reverse View but dont recall ever putting from the fringe using it.

Just came to mind and thought i'd throw it out there.

    Happy Golfing
