I got to the point of having almost the opposite problem. I'd played for so long with the same gear I wanted to change things up. New gear had become available - scores had dropped - so I thought (just like in RL) it was time to embrace some new tech.
The problem was, to do so was going to cost me about $120. That's about what I pay for 2 x new release games. I was also going to need a couple more levels for a club or two that would actually be "upgrades" over the old - and that takes months in the 90's. Playing stroke play at the rate I used to cost about $15 - $20 per week in balls. So the dawning reality was, the $120 for the eventual new clubs was likely going to be the least of the cost ahead of me.
I instead "changed down". Sold all of my clubs. Now, as a Tour Legend, ,y aim is to try and sub par every course in the game from the tips with starter clubs. It is proving to be more challenging than anything I've encountered in my 2 years!
The one huge advantage? It has finally become a "free game"! :-)
