The wind at the moment is completely random.
I just played a Ready-go tournament with strong wind. EVERY single time it was headwind - sometimes cross head wind but in all 9 holes it was against me. As the wind was on average 20mph I honestly could have hit 2 or 3 shots better than I did if it had been always tailwind. It means for a ranked tournament that costs credits a large part of it is luck. You should not been able to pick up 2 - 3 shot over 9 holes on luck imo.
Another reason it being random is ridiculous is because on many holes you can see other holes on the same course, usually in very different directions.
So for example you are playing 1 hole with a headwind in 1 direction, but then the next hole (which you could see from the previous hole) you playing in an exact opposite direction yet you STILL have a headwind. Yes the wind can change direction irl, but it's unlikely to do 180 degree turn in the 5 minutes it would take you to make it to the next tee.
