    Hello.

I'm having trouble with my approach shots. I've tried everything.

The default club selected often seems to be wrong, so I change it according to the wind. I'm often in between clubs, so pick one based on the wind. If I can't hit it full on the meter then I have to guess how far up the meter I should go. I then usually fall short of the green, go long, or if I'm lucky I get on, but far too short to get birdie and struggle to get par.

How do you guess this if you are in between clubs?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jason.

If I am between clubs and I have tailwind  then I usually go with the lesser club length and adjust my backswing accordingly.  Headwind, I will go up a club length and not hit it full, again depending on the wind, distance and whether it's uphill or downhill shot.

The closer you are to the pin the less effect the wind will have.  The "rule of thumb" I use (and to each his own), for every 10mph of headwind I add 10yds (or 1mph wind/yard), again this varies with distance from the pin, and whether you have a significant uphill or downhill shot.  A lot of trial and error too!

    Hi

you should never rely on default club and adjust as needed. I am in between clubs, I almost always go for club up, and hit full bs and choke as needed. Distances require practice by hitting same shot every time with same bs, then u can judge better how much to add or subtract.
