I have been looking at the posts indicating that some are using third party cheat software (auto-dingers, databases, etc).  It would appear that these software systems need time to set-up for each shot.

Why not have 30 sec tourneys (single) to reduce set-up time and thus force players to rely on knowledge and skill rather than software!!!

    Just a thought.

golf is a game of thinking,
not everyone can/likes planning their shots in 30 seconds.
I for one, don't like to be rushed, I need to check the slopes,
I need to calculate wind and elevations and I need to practice my shot.

you CAN'T fix cheating, you just can't
even if they redo the whole game from scratch
it won't be long until new 3rd party stuff will surface,
cheaters will always find ways to cheat, no way around it I'm afraid.

ruining the game in a way that hurts non-cheaters,
is letting these a-holes win twice.

best advice is, when you play for C's
play someone you know is honest (cc member/friend etc..).

Ok maybe we are not reading the same forums, or have similar comprehensions skills, but from I seen is the software is setup way before the game and not shot to shot, all that is needed is a drop down to select driver etc from the video I seen, and I never heard of a "database cheat". What is that?

The other cheat I seen slows the flash and the timer, so what exactly is the point here.

So I'm not clear on the relationship with 30 sec timer and dinger and/or database.

I think you would be much better off to just ask for a tournament with a 30 second timer, kindof a wack fu-ck tournament, without the need to use a bs justification for such.

    Forget time restrictions.

I'd love to see WGT implement computer linking.  Everything on my screen can be seen by WGT.  Simply implement the policy "Players who finish high in premium tournaments may be required to play a linked round at the same course under the same conditions."

Extra work for WGT?  Not really as i would imagine there would be plenty of volunteers in every time zone happy to oblige.

The cheats?  Well, if you can shoot "x" at that course under those conditions in single play, you should be able to play reasonably close to that score whilst linked.  Surely.  Those that rely on cheats will fall apart very quickly.  If they try to use their cheats that'll be spotted at the other end in seconds.

The cheats will get found out soon enough, or will have to make do finishing way down the list.  Every honest player will have absolutely zero to worry about.

Those that kick up a storm of protest and all of a sudden can't be active much anymore...well, I think that would be rather dubious.  Those that reckon their PC's are "too sensitive with personal info" - no problem - use another computer and until such time your suspended.

I personally would welcome the scrutiny and consider it another part of the fun of WGT.  Indeed, an honour.

I tend to agree with Steve.  If anything the short timer would give players with the best cheats an even greater edge (if there are many out there, personally I still doubt it)

In regards to being forced to "fraps" your games, people complain about performance now, I don't even want to think about what would happen with a fraps type client.  Also flash does have some limitations, not sure if this would be one.  Also there is no reason the auto-dinger, or what ever program couldn't be written to run in the background.

Or if WGT were to shadow my screen (maybe a little better, though never tried to shadow while someone is gaming before, outside of performance problems, you still run into some games I shoot a 72 (or worse) while other games I can shoot a 60 or better (not many better yet but meh) I am sure I am not the only one that has off games or amazing games though, and if the tourney is unlimited.

In regards to "the other computer" so now people will be required to have a second gaming pc?  also seems quite an expensive requirement.

I can do 30 seconds for most shots, but putts can take me longer...heck, I can do drives and approaches in less than 15 seconds..but many shots around the green with reverse views, etc...can take me near a minute.

All for a "screen shadow" if it does not compromise performance, or security to ones personal info they may have within their PC.

Same for me, apart from Merion at the moment l have a reasonable knowledge of the rest of them, so can line up and execute my shot sometimes well within 30 seconds, but i do like a bit longer to line putts up.

Drive for show, putt for dough

That got me thinking, so I tested Teamviewer and allowed the the better half to watch while I had a quick practice round at Oak. (keep the replies clean please ;) )

I did not see any meter/performance issues whatsoever, the test was done over a gigabit LAN, so I may run a real test next week from work over the internet.

It's a bit odd hearing the sound of the club strike echo from the next room and someone laughing when it goes straight in the first sand trap.

Good Idea though, it would proof in all certainty that an autodinger was NOT in use.

I'm with you, I can shoot any course here and 30 seconds is oodles of time to take the shot. But if I want to shoot well, I slow it down. Like for instance today I played my longest ever game here at Merion. I have been trying since day 1 for that qualifier, it has been causing me fits.

Today, this morning I sat down with my coffee, and took my time completely. 2 coffees, 10 smokes, and over 2 hours later I finally shot my goal score there.

I would run that meter sometimes 5 times before I took the shot, double, triple and quadruple checking everything, analyzing each and every putt to death, deciding how hard to hit, where to land approaches and drives and it paid off.

    Checked your score history...nice.

Still trying to build up the ambition to grind it out for a few days.  One of the main reasons I don't play much CTTH or Unlimited tourneys..I'd get stuck on doing so many restarts I'd be burnt out in a few hours seeing the same holes over and over again.

Glad you took your time and worked through it!
