    +1

My take is that WGT uses some sort of algorithm to periodically (weekly, or so) tweak green speeds on all the courses. I putt by the generally accepted formulas (+10% Slow, 0 Std, -10% Fast, -20% Very Fast, etc.) to which I add a 'safety factor' of 1.5 -2.0 ft to avoid the 'never up, never in' syndrome.

Right now, putts that should roll past the hole on near-misses that same 1 - 2ft are stopping hole-high or even short. Next week, under identical conditions the ball may end up 3 or 4 ft beyond the cup.

All of that is aside from the Virtual Open 'manipulations.

Just one more way WGT attempts to make the game more 'realistic' - after all, actual green speeds do vary, as mowing and moisture impact putting results. At least speed tends to be consistent within a round at WGT; In real life, particularly if you're a fan of early morning tee times (like I am in the desert heat here in Tucson) you will see speeds increasing significantly over the course of a single round!
