  I did a search on this but haven't found the answer so I'm just going to ask it here...how long do you have to be a member before you can post to the forum without needing your post reviewed and accepted?  I can certainly understand the gates being up for new members for a while but when do you earn the proverbial hall pass?

  There is no set time frame that you will be on moderation.  Usually 15-20 post though is pretty standard.  But it can be longer if you don't follow the posting guidelines.  Best way to get off of moderation is to post with some regularity so we will recognize your name and know you haven't been causing any problems.
